Perfect for Photo's/Music

BUFFALO LS-250GL 250GB Shared Network Storage
BUFFALO LS-250GL 250GB Shared Network Storage

Pros: Nice Design, Gigabit, pretty much silent and a great value. This is the third Buffalo product I've purchased and this performs as well as the rest of them.

Cons: somewhat cludgy, no physical manual

Overall Review: I'm not sure why I couldn't see the drive once it got it's IP address from my router, but I couldn't until I ran the included connection software. But once I ran this the drive was there. I had to run this utility on every machine before I could access it. Not even addressing it by it's IP would allow me to connect to it.

Didn't help...

SABRENT SBT-SP6C 5.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card
SABRENT SBT-SP6C 5.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card

Pros: no problems installing

Cons: documentation is weak, didn't help sound performace.

Overall Review: I am refurbing a Dell Optiplex GX1 and the onboard isa sound tends to skips in childrens games, so I pirchased this card to off load the processing from the cpu to this card. Long story short, there is no improvement. The very modest Dora Explorer game still sputters to the same degree that it did with the onboard isa.

Intel BOXDP35DPM LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel BOXDP35DPM LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: This is a great board, I love the absence of most legacy pieces.

Cons: the board is warped on the North West corner by almost 1/4??? Once mounted it's obviously been pulled back to level, but I've never seen that before...

Overall Review: ok, this was totaly my fault - the board is not bios capable of overclocking... What was I thinking? If someone comes across a bios hack to allow overclocking I'd like to know. May have to buy another board...

It's Fast and Cool

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 - Core 2 Duo Wolfdale Dual-Core 3.0 GHz LGA 775 65W Processor - BX80570E8400
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 - Core 2 Duo Wolfdale Dual-Core 3.0 GHz LGA 775 65W Processor - BX80570E8400

Pros: It's fast, just like my E6400. I havemy E6400 clocked up to 3.5 ghz and the E8400 is stock at 3.0 ghz and the scores between them are fairly close, with the overclocked E6400 faster in most benches. The E8400 running stock everything is satisfying, knowing it's speed and that it's running very cool.

Cons: please...

Overall Review: I was hoping that it would fall in price considering the i7 series. I wanted to pay closer to 100 than 150...

Very nice case

LIAN LI PC-A05B Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
LIAN LI PC-A05B Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: My first Lian Li, it was nice to work with, well laid out - especially air flow. Very light, nice for game nights! It is very quiet, less the wildly noisy Seagate (free w/ Vista 64 bit) I normally use WD's which are much quieter. Very clean lines. Built in night light and foot warmer. All of the pieces fit nicely together. Other than the small fire, this case is one of my favorites, I'll buy more Lian Li's.

Cons: Only have two gripes, first the motherboard tray pre-drilled hole for accepting the MB's seat stays were rough and needed tapping. Secondly, the wiring harness for the AC '97 and the HD Audio are on one harness, I opted for the normal audio. When I powered on the machine, the harness was wired wrong and one o the grounds lit up like a fuse, glowing red hot and burned up before I could disengage the power... Yes it was connected properly. Fortunately, I was able to use the HD connector that wasn't damaged...

Overall Review: Although the edges had been deburred, they were still a little hazardous. I bought this for my new gaming build to replace a server case I've been using for couple of years that I'm tired of using a dolly to move. The Lian Li holds5 internal hdd's plus the extenal dvd no problem as well as a nice XFX 4850 XXX. Case temp are ridiculosly low. I have to look to see if the night liht is on to know it's on it is so quiet. Great Case!

Excellent price/performance/feature

PC Power & Cooling ModXStream Pro Series 700 Watt 80+ Semi-Modular Active PFC Performance Grade ATX PC Power Supply (OCZ700MXSP)
PC Power & Cooling ModXStream Pro Series 700 Watt 80+ Semi-Modular Active PFC Performance Grade ATX PC Power Supply (OCZ700MXSP)

Pros: Modular, price/performance, exceedingly quiet, and thankfully no irritating lights...

Cons: For a modular power supply, why they have tethered both a 4 pin and th 8 pin processor cables is a mystery. You're going to have one or the other, so it too should be modular. Now I have to ope the power supply and nueter the one I don't need... Very poor design consideration.

Overall Review: I know this will draw some flack, but really, why are there molex connectors still? They should market the same PS's one with mixed (molex & SATA) and one with only SATA. At least they could offer a swap for the molex to SATA...
