nice low power machine
Pros: VMware ESXi 5.0 installed successfully and runs well. The onboard NIC worked without any trouble. With 8 GB RAM and an SSD, this system can run quite a few VMs with reasonable performance and very low power utilization.
Cons: The dual-core 1 GHz CPU can be a bottleneck so don't expect too much.
Overall Review: I originally bought this board for a NAS and I will eventually be using it for that purpose (once I'm done playing around with vSphere on it). The six onboard SATA ports are great for this, or you could install a hardware RAID card in the PCIe slot.
Dead after a year
Pros: It is affordable and worked well the first few times I used it.
Cons: It's not built to last and stopped functioning shortly after the warranty expired. Also, it is not the easiest stud detector to use. Lastly, it requires a 9v battery instead of cheaper and more common AA or AAA batteries.
Overall Review: I initially bought it to install a TV wall mount. Considering the low price it worked surprising well for that project and for a couple others shortly thereafter. However, I didn't need to use it again until about a year later, and at that point it was no longer able to detect studs! It powered on and appeared to do something but the stud detection was completely non-functional. I even checked studs that it could previous detect with no success. I stored it without a battery installed and in a clean, dry cabinet (indoors), so there is no excuse for it to just die randomly.
Very fast
Pros: Mine is still going strong after six months. Performance is great. The cap secures to the back.
Cons: none
Drivers are finally good
Pros: With the latest drivers it works great with Windows 7 (64-bit). It includes both a regular and a low-profile bracket for compatibility with any standard case. Reliability is good considering I've had this over a year.
Cons: The Asus web site does not have the latest drivers. They provide very old drivers for Windows 7 and somewhat newer ones for Windows 8, but still not as new as what is available from MediaTek.
Overall Review: I've been using this for more than a year and with older drivers I saw some of the issues mentioned in other reviews. However, everything seems to be working fine with drivers released in the last few months. The Asus web site is not updated frequently so it is best to download the drivers directly from MediaTek.
High quality cable
Pros: This is a great cable. I've had two for my dual monitor setup for almost a year and they are still going strong with no issues whatsoever. The white color looks nice.
Cons: none
Very nice
Pros: I really like this USB drive. It's very small and stylish, and the cap secures to the back when in use. Performance is on par with similarly priced USB 3.0 drives I own.
Cons: None yet.
