nice fast drive
Pros: I read a few reviews, switched sata controller to ahci, pc installed win7 and ran great. I had to do a search on how to activate the trim feature in win7. Got trim working, have had no problems I did not do a firmware update, have it downloaded but since it seemed to work just fine I figured id wait and see if I had a problem. crysis 2 games load a whole lot quicker. In general like the drive, only 2 1/2 weeks ago it cost me 174$ now $120 after rebates considering buying a 2nd to restore and back up to.
Cons: I noticed it didnt come with a mounting plate after my order was placed so improvised a little mounting it. SSD 's just seem a little high in price for the capacity, but figured Id try one.
Overall Review: asus m4a87td usb3 powercolor radeon 6850 8 gig g skill ripjaws 1333 mhz ddr3 memory amd phenom 2 970 quad core thermaltake toughpower 750 psu win7 64 bit home premium 1tb seagate barracuda this system was a fairly budget build considering how it performs. I would buy this drive again.
Its a sound card,
Pros: Its a sound card. Im not really noticing much difference from my Diamond 5.1 16bit card I had before that I paid $15 for. maybe the blue board is why it cost $34 more. I had an original audigy 1394 that I thought had excellent sound quality. as for this card it sounds good but I guess I was expecting a little more. I guess if I was gonna be picky I should have bought a $150 card .
Cons: I think for what it does I think its overpriced about $20.
Overall Review: still a good sound card I guess I was just expecting a little more. If I had it to do over I probably would have kept my $15 16bit card and saved $49. Still if you have no sound card and dont already have one its probably not a bad deal.
great upgrade to my network
Pros: very fast, I had been running 10-100 and it took me about 8 minutes to copy a 4.5 gig movie iso from my multimedia server box to my main pc now it takes about a minute and a half. I will admit though the machine im copying to Is very fast (9850 quad) and copying from main machine to multimedia box is roughly half as fastas it is a slower pc (socket 939 x2 4200) so I know the hardware is what is making the difference but I still consider 2 and a half minutes to transfer a dvd Image blazing fast compared to what im used to with 10-100
Cons: none yet
Overall Review: basically this switch will be as fast as the hardware in your pc can run , yes the bottleneck will be hardware not your network
Seems to be a good drive
Pros: I have had this drive a little over a week now and its doing great. I wish all the bad reviews said if it failed in a raid array or as a single drive. Of all the hard drives Ive had all seagate or western digital I had my first failure and it was a western digital drive that failed.
Cons: I havent found any cons yet, but I will say that I was very nervous about ordering this drive after reading alot of bad reviews on here.
Overall Review: I wish people leaving bad reviews would give more information about their configuration of the system the drive failed in. Im running mine as a single drive storing a bunch of dvd iso's and my mp3s etc about 375 gig right now with great results, but I do have the data on this drive on my other machine also so im not really risking losing all my data.
Nervous buyer
Pros: I opened the box and installed it and it worked. thats a pro, Im planning on giving this drive a 1 week torture test. Im a little worried from reading the reviews on this drive, but Im going to give it a chance. so far no clicking or anything yet so maybe Ill get lucky and be one of the 53% that will give it a 5 egg rating
Cons: none so far its been 8 hours running so far
Overall Review: I will post another reviws after the torture test.
update post GREAT CPU
Pros: this processor does anything I want it to. I have watched 2 different dvds at the same time while extracting a win rar archive, and running DIVX converter converting a movie to DIVX. Basically I was trying to get it to load down and get hot. It never went above 54c and it never bogged down so I consider that good enough for me. I see all these people with this processor paying $50-$60 for fancy zalman coolers, but im running an arctic cooling freezer pro and it stays really cool and I paid $30 for it heres the link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185125 It doesnt list any quad cores in the specs but it does say it will dissipate 200w of heat from a processor and I believe them. So if youre running hot on a stock cooler this is an awesome deal for $30. I run it gaming too crysis high settings it maxes out at 52c. I do have an antec 900 case though, if you stick this chip in a mini atx case or a mid tower with poor ventilation it is going to run hot.
Cons: that I didnt buy one sooner and that it was $169 when I bought it and in the $140s now but hey im still happy.
Overall Review: with my system with 2 8800gts 640 meg in sli, 2 500 gig wd blacks in raid 0 and this processor the bottleneck is now windows VISTA . my computer is definitely faster than the operating system, no offense Bill But Vista has been a letdown.
