so far so good after a rocky start ...
Pros: -Great color, sharpness, etc. -High performance per $$$ ratio -Overall, a very nice card
Cons: I had strange install issues. See "other thoughts" section ...
Overall Review: I had to replaced my damaged system. So, I bought a ASUS P5B-E motherboard, Core 2 Duo processor, and decided on this videocard since my old ATI AIW 9600 Pro was an AGP format board. Everything installed fine (MS XP Pro w/SP2) with no error warnings. I installed the video card drivers that came on the accompanying CD. When I tried to play movies (DVDs, AVIs, MPEGs, MOVs, etc.), the movies would only play in B/W! Also, some of the movie image was trimmed off of all 4 sides. eVGA suggested a driver reinstall in safe mode and some other adjustments. I removed the driver, rebooted to safe mode, while there, installed a newer, recently downloaded driver. Rebooted to normal mode and everything was fine and dandy! Weird indeed ... Anyway, no problems since and the card works great!
very pleased with this board
Pros: -High Performance -Great Performance per $$ ratio -Easy install - no problems at all with either the physical fit in the case or the electronic install - sw loading, firts bringup, apps installation, etc. -LOTS of flexibility built in for overclocking
Cons: None in my book
Overall Review: I fit this into a Antec quiet case. I bit the bullet and sprang for a Core 2 Duo processor although my original plan was to wait a while until the prices dropped more. This system is fast and stable. I will even play around with overclocking to see what it's all about (I'm not a gamer).
