Awesome Hard Drive!!

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: This hard drive is awesome! 250 GB of storage, fast access times and the drive is super quiet in my Rosewill R-Series case. Transfered my OS and all my files from my IDE hard drive (about 40 GB) to this SATA one and it only took an hour and 15 minutes.

Cons: None so far. I just wished I picked it up during the price drop.

Overall Review: Just remember that Windows XP won't recognize this drive in My Computer (but it'll show in the Device Manager) since it is over 137 GB. So in order for you to use it as storage or as a boot partition, you must download the Data Lifeguard Tools program from Western Digital(www.westerndigital.com). Then it'll recognize the drive and the program will ask you if you want to use it as storage or a boot partition and then it will format it and start with your request. After the process is over, My Computer will recognize it and now you can use it. Hope this helps!

Overall Review: There seemed to be a slight packaging mixup. Newegg bundled my LG DVD Writer software with my LG DVD-ROM probably because I ordered them at the same time and they were in the same packaging box. Scott below me is correct. The DVD Writer software does come the drive. Just a slight mistake of packaging, but it didn't do any harm. Both drives still perform GREAT!

Cheap way to get the job done

Cons: None

Pros: This DVD burner does exactly what it says it will do. Burnt 5 DVDs so far, each of them 1.5-2 hrs in length (on Memorex DVD+Rs) and haven't had a coaster yet. Have this paired w/ an LG DVD-ROM to make DVD copies.

Cons: Not a con at all but it doesn't come with software, but as you already know, OEM products usually never do. But the good news is the OEM LG DVD-ROM drive I bought did. (Item#:N82E16827136083) It came with Nero 7 Essentials (w/ Lightscribe support), InCD, PowerDVD and PowerProducer. All that for $xx.xx!! Great buy!

Western Digital Caviar WD400BB 40GB 7200 RPM 2MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA-6 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Wow! I've had this hard drive in an old eMachines desktop 5 years ago and transfered it into my current build and it still runs today! Western Digital has always been known for their quality hard drives.

Cons: None at all

Western Digital Caviar WD800BB 80GB 7200 RPM 2MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA-6 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: This is a nice hard drive that works as advertised. I used this is a home user build for a customer. Installed Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy Eft) along w/ a gig of DDR 400 ram, P4 2.4 GHz processor and everything is going well so far. I would recommend it.

Cons: The 2MB cache. You could get an 80GB hard drive of the same make & model w/ a 8MB cache for $x.xx more. But to the person I'm building this for, it's not a big deal
