Nice case, with some flaws

Pros: *As an FYI, this review is for the Lian-Lia O11D EVO RGB case in black (since nowadays Newegg inexplicably lumps bunches of reviews together).* If you're considering this case you've probably watched a number of videos about it, and therefore know its strengths. So I'll focus more on the things I don't like. It is quite large, which makes the build easy, but it does eat up a lot more desk space. It's seemingly very sturdy, but some of the screw holes are poorly threaded, as mentioned in other reviews. Hands down, my biggest complaint about *this generation* of this case is the difficulty in creating a cooling solution for spinning rust drives. The bigger version apparently offers an HDD cage with mounting points for a fan built right in. Even better, those bays are hot swappable-- this case offers neither option at the time of this writing. I've never owned a case where there wasn't some sort of provision for cooling spinning rust. This deficiency may not seem like much to gamers, but people spending this $$$ much on a case intended for serious work want more attention given to such details. Lian-Li did so in previous generations, and yet stripped it out of this case. Why? Even so, this case could have still gotten (a conditional) 5 eggs from this reviewer if it weren't for the fact that Lian-Li does not support the case with fans, at least as of this writing. I cannot find reverse flow Lian-Li infinity fans *anywhere* right now, and yet when you choose this case you're kinda locked in to the Lian-Li RGB ecosystem (such as it is), because AFAIK the only way to fully control the (very nice looking) case LED is through Lian-Li's software, which requires their *proprietary* fan controller. Maybe you're willing to fork over for a separate light controller that won't control the rest of your case fans (because you can't buy Lian-Li reverse fans right now) just to control the case light strip, but I'm kinda done with Lian-Li right now. If I had known I couldn't buy reverse fans (or that the wiring leads Lian-Li provides on its fans are laughable short), I woulda just bought the cheaper brand case with all the fans already installed (you guys all know what I 'Mont...' er, mean...). What's the point of ponying up for a premium case if the manufacturer abandons you after the sale? Another complaint, albeit minor, is that the manual is an absolute hodgepodge-- it's not broken down into separate languages-- every language is crammed into every step in the build process. To be fair, if you're buying a case like this you've probably watched countless Provoked Prawn videos. But geez, this case is priced as a premium component-- how much more difficult would it have been to hire an English speaking technical writer to put a shine on the company's image? Trust me, if you've read this far, you could write a better manual than Lian-Li provides. But at least they give you one, so kudos for that. Not that it covers operation of the front panel LED switches. You have to guess, or refer to the interwebZ for that info. High points: sturdiness (although I've yet to remove the corner brace), and the selection of hardware provided by L-L. Ok, the hardware is of dubious quality, but at least it comes with enough to get you through a fairly decent build. I've yet to find the truly perfect case, but I've had others that came closer to perfection. Lian-Li tries to cover a ton of bases with this one, and they do a credible job, but actually removing desirable features from a so-called "Evo" model seems like a strange marketing decision. If they had provided some sort of means to mount a spinning rust cooling fan (like they did in some preceding models), threaded the holes correctly, provided hardware that isn't more like "software", and included a clearly written manual (with instructions on operation of the LED switches), it would be that much closer to the perfect case. But the above issues, in combination with the current lack of supporting fans from Lian-Li, detracts enough from the build experience to deduct at least one egg. Great looking case, nicely finished, and made of real (albeit soft) steel. But if I had it to do all over again, I would have bought a Montech, since the fact that it comes with case fans already installed would have made it easier to live with whatever issues it might have. HTH, and good luck with your build.
Cons: No provision for hard drive cooling Takes up a lot of space Iffy quality hardware & threads
Overall Review: Great looking, solid case, hampered by the lack of high quality ARGB fans compatible with the built-in lighting, and a lack of provisions for HDD cooling.
My last Gigabyte MOBO

Pros: Cheap, simple BIOS.
Cons: Multiple hardware issues, but no product support. :-(
Overall Review: Seemed like a decent HTPC MOBO for the price-- in the past I've had excellent luck with Gigabyte MOBOs. But when the onboard LAN failed while protected by an APC UPC/surge protector I filed a warranty claim with Gigabyte and never heard boo. Then the primary onboard SATA port failed, resulting in symptoms identical to a dead MOBO. Found that switching to another SATA port fixed the problem, but since Gigabyte won't warranty the board for the dead LAN I'm going to a different brand... for good.
Exceeded Expectations

Pros: Excellent light output Perfect color temperature
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: These came on sale about the time one of my 60 watt vanity bulbs failed so I figured I'd give them a try since their total draw is 42 watts, compared to the 360 watt draw of the incandescents I was using. But without any reviews and no knowledge of the company my expectations were tempered. Turns out these things are quite bright for 7 watt LED lamps and their color temperature is stunning to my eye. You'd never know they're LED from their output! To be fair, I've only just installed them so longevity is a huge question, I haven't tested their draw, and they're not on a dimmer so I can't test that claim. But for excellent light output in a very pleasing, realistic color temp, they're great so far. People often say they'll update the review later, but I'm not going to promise that. However, if I lose more than a couple or I have a negative experience with CS, I'll probably be back to vent. As for now, I wish I'd bought three sets.
