Tons of computing horsepower, and easy to overclock

Intel Core i7-5960X - Core i7 4th Gen Haswell-E 8-Core 3.0 GHz LGA 2011-v3 140W Desktop Processor - BX80648I75960X

Pros: Bought this for a VR gaming and content creation rig. Very powerful, and very easy to lightly overclock. I'm running a cheapy Corsair H100i GTX cooler, and I can easily put this at 4GHz with no fan noise. It's a no-brainer. - 8 cores make this processor a beast for multi-tasking and rendering/media/development work - Performs great for gaming as well, but not cost effective - Made me a ham sandwich ones with 1 core while the other 7 were rendering a 3D drawing

Cons: - Costs more than some used cars - Costs more than some relationships - Requires (relatively more) expensive motherboards due to socket 2011v3

Good design and flexibility, but terrible HD cages; metal feels a little thin/flimsy; door fitment not good

Pros: Overall, the case is designed well, allowing for good internal layout, and slots for fans/radiators galore. The front fan is a 200mm which is an oddball size, but it will allow good airflow at very low noise. If you don't need any 5.25" bays, you can add a second one above it. Also, this case is large. Like, really large. You can just about fit a four-year-old into it, if you leave one door open. Take a meter stick and make sure you can fit this where you want it to go. For the bottom feet, the spacing is 20.75" by 11" on center. The case comes with a set of 2 hard drive mounts, which allow pretty good flexibility in placement within the case. Lots of dust filters built into the case, on all sides including the bottom.

Cons: The case comes with a set of 2 hard drive mounts, but these mounts require you to affix them to one of the 120/140mm fan mounting plates. In addition, the drives are oriented such that they completely block the bottom (or side) intake next to where you mount them. They should have been designed with a 90 degree rotation to allow better airflow. While the larger case intakes are covered by magnetic filters, but the front panel and part of the bottom have cheesy plastic grids that are held in tightly by stiff tabs at the edges. These just look like something that will break a month or 2 into ownership. The door mounts are weak, and reek of cost-cutting. They are not hinged doors, but are the old-school (think 1990's) style doors that have to be lifted and slid into place, then tightened with the 2 thumb screws while being held in place. Finally, I'm still building my system in this case, but the sheet metal vibrates a lot while moving the case around, so I fear I will have to do some noise dampening/padding to this case.

Overall Review: Overall, this is not a bad case. It sounds like I'm being hard on it, but I have been a professional PC builder for years and have seen and worked in tens if not hundreds of cases. Also, Thermaltake being an established brand does raise the level of expectations. While the concept and layout are good, some additional attention to detail would go a long way towards making this seem a lot more premium.

Perfect specs for PS3 (Playstation 3)

Western Digital WD AV-25 WD5000BUDT 500GB 5400 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal AV Hard Drive

Pros: Low power consumption, low heat and low noise (since this is an AV drive) make it perfect for PS3 use. 32MB cache will be great, in theory. It's certainly better than most of the other drives at this price point. Fits perfectly into a PS3, and is formatted and used quickly. This drive seems to be noticeably faster than the stock 60GB drive in my launch day PS3.

Cons: None so far.
