AWESOME

Intel Core i5-750 - Core i5 Lynnfield Quad-Core 2.66 GHz LGA 1156 95W Processor - BX80605I5750
Intel Core i5-750 - Core i5 Lynnfield Quad-Core 2.66 GHz LGA 1156 95W Processor - BX80605I5750

Pros: Fast, cool Quad-Core.

Cons: It's 1:56 PM and Michigan still sucks.

Overall Review: Undervolted by 0.1500 volts, and now it is extremely cool. Cool enough for me to run with passive heatsink, a silent pc freaks dream.

<25% failure rate

Seagate BarraCuda LP ST32000542AS 2TB 5900 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: potentially a good price to size ratio

Cons: high rate of failure

Overall Review: it's very low cost, probably because more than 1 of every 4 of these drives fail. That's based on the reviews which are probably inlated, people who experience the drive failures are probably more likely to leave a poor review than people who are satisfied customers. But seriously, as of today, the reviews show 29% one-egg reviews, which typically means it was DOA

Quiet fan

Scythe GentleTyphoon D1225C12B1AP-11 Case cooler
Scythe GentleTyphoon D1225C12B1AP-11 Case cooler

Pros: For all intents and purposes this fan is inaudible. Any sound you can detect from this fan is extremely silent and not an annoying pitch, more of a low hum and you have to be about an inch away from it to hear it. NO LED's!!!!

Cons: Low airflow, but you should know that when you buy this fan.

Overall Review: For any customer to knock of any eggs due to this fans low airflow is plain stupid. This fan is available in 800 RPM and 1150 RPM models, if you need more airflow, buy those fans. The purpose of this fan is to avoid stagnation of air at minimum noise. This fan is perfect for me as i have a very cool running system in a case with little airflow restriction (P183 with i5, Torqx SSD, and passively cooled 9600GT) Be an educated consumer, not an angry idiot.

Good Silent Solution

ASUS GeForce 9600 GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card EN9600GT SILENT/2D/512MD3
ASUS GeForce 9600 GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card EN9600GT SILENT/2D/512MD3

Pros: Runs competlely silently, and therefore accomplishes my main objective in this build. My case has pretty good ventilation so it doesnt really go above 60 C, got it up to 82 C after about an hour on FurMark.

Cons: I guess 52 C is a tiny bit high for GPU at idle, but that can be fixed with more system ventilation. Currently running all fans at 500 RPM so it's to be expected.

Overall Review: Usually you pay a premium for passive cooling, but this card is actually $5 cheaper than the identical Asus Fan-cooled version of it.

Very Nice Drive

Patriot Torqx 2.5" 128GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) PFZ128GS25SSDR
Patriot Torqx 2.5" 128GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) PFZ128GS25SSDR

Pros: This drive fills all the functions that a SSD is supposed to fill. Extremely snappy loading of all programs including OS startup, and of course it is also completely silent. The 10 year warranty was the deal breaker that removed any doubts or hesitations I had about going with the new SSD technology. That and Windows 7 support of TRIM.

Cons: 2.5 to 3.5 tray was the correct width but it was not long enough to fit the lower HD tray in my Antec P183, instead I just had to mount on the front holes with the screws and use some double sided tape to support the back, not really a big problem.

Overall Review: Indilinx controller on this drive, Samsung controler (i believe) on the M28. I'll stick with the Indilinx controller and smaller cache.

Overall Review: There was some confusion before as NewEgg listed this drive to have a 128 mb cache, and at the time this was also listed on the Patriot website under their product overview, but if you check the detailed specifications it is and always has been correctly listed as 64 mb. If you are looking for the Patriot Torqx with the 128 mb cache you can find it on NewEgg for about the same price as this drive, as the M28 model, however I believe it uses a Samsung controller, where this drive uses the Indilinx barefoot controller. You may gain some write performance with the 128 mb cache, but I have heard rave reviews for the Indilinx controller, and not the greatest things have been said about Samsung controllers. IMO i'll take the smaller cache with a more reputable controller and sleep well at night. To the people who gave this 1 egg for the cache thing, maybe do some research before you spend 400 bucks.
