Great board!

ASUS M4A88T-I Deluxe AM3 AMD 880G USB 3.0 HDMI Mini ITX AMD Motherboard
ASUS M4A88T-I Deluxe AM3 AMD 880G USB 3.0 HDMI Mini ITX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Small form factor and great unlocking ability. I have a Phenom II X2 555 in it now and was able to unlock all 4 cores despite not being able to do so in another board.

Cons: Laptop memory instead of desktop memory. One slot is blocked by the AMD stock cooler! Only one internal usb header? For a device so small, your going to rely hevily on usb. That being said the only thing you really need it for is if you internalize a card reader, and maybe a usb tv tuner that you also internalize. Motherboard reports 160 TDP when unlocking the 555. The MSI I was using was reporting the proper TDP despite not doing a good job unlocking the 2 cores Gets HOT. As I say below, get a Zalman 7000 or some other downward open cooling heatsink.

Overall Review: Get one of the Zalman 7000 series coolers or anything that will blow air on the board. My version came with a heat sink for most of the voltage regulators, but a few did not and they were getting hot using the stock amd cooler. It will give you more room for the second memory slot, and only costs $28-30 at most places you can buy it.

Some overheating and crashing

Crucial M550 mSATA 128GB Mini-SATA (mSATA) MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT128M550SSD3
Crucial M550 mSATA 128GB Mini-SATA (mSATA) MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT128M550SSD3

Pros: Good speed, Good price to size ratio. Fast as a boot drive for Windows 8.1. Read speed as per crystal disk mark Read 502 MB/s Write 76 MB/s

Cons: Heating up to 70-80C causing the system to crash while the 64GB SSD I have next to it stays cool and has no problems. As of this writing the drive is staying at 42C. After 2 min of benchmark the temp is reading 81C in HWmonitor. I am not sure what the issue is why there are times it stays cool and other times it gets incredibly hot. I have switched it between the two mSATA ports in my laptop and it is not a port issue, but still could be a configuration issue on my part I suppose. As it functions most of the time and I haven't lost any data I gave it 2/5.

Works fairly well

TP-Link AV1200 Powerline Ethernet Adapter - Gigabit Port, Plug&Play, Power Saving(TL-PA8010 KIT)
TP-Link AV1200 Powerline Ethernet Adapter - Gigabit Port, Plug&Play, Power Saving(TL-PA8010 KIT)

Pros: Pass through power line with a gigabit port

Cons: Set up program does not work with windows 8 or 10. I have to use the Netgear powerline utility to configure if necessary

Overall Review: Speed is good in my house about 385 Mbps through the breaker box. Haven't had any lag issues with xbox one and is backwards compatible with my Tplink 500Mbps adapters. They run at about 190 Mbps back to these adapters

Remember to initialize the disk first!

Manufacturer Recertified OCZ Vertex 2 2.5" 100GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-2VTX100G
Manufacturer Recertified OCZ Vertex 2 2.5" 100GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-2VTX100G

Pros: I believe some of the DOA claims that are occurring may be individuals who are not initializing their disks before use. You must put a GPT or MBR on the disk before you can format the drive, and before it will be "seen" If your bios doesn't see it, that may still be an issue not with the drive. I had problems with an ASUS that would not see the drive until I reseated the SSD. That goes for using a USB external enclosure. You wont get a prompt to format the drive unless you initialize the disk using the Computer Management utility under administrative tools.

Cons: Read and Write times are about 20-30 MB/sec than advertised but that is not a big deal when the purpose of this purchase was to increase battery life by removing a spinning disk.

Why buy any other ram

Ballistix Tactical Tracer 4GB DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory (with Red/Green Light) Model BLT4G3D1869DT2TXRG
Ballistix Tactical Tracer 4GB DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory (with Red/Green Light) Model BLT4G3D1869DT2TXRG

Pros: Only bought 1 to try out light mod. Cant complain, it does look great when there is heavy activity. Not sure if I would want all 4 banks lit up however as it can get bright

Cons: Sensitivity of brightness is high. If you don't set it to the brightest setting, it doesn't look that great, but it is a little overpowering at the highest setting, so its a trade off

Overall Review: Running at 1680 since the rest of my ram is 1600, so I can't comment on the speed difference which is probably negligible between 1866 and 1600. That being said, for the 2-3 more in cost why not get the faster ram?

TRENDnet RB-TEW-632BRP Wireless N Home Router IEEE 802.11b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u

Pros: Figured out that I needed to use an older build of dd-wrt 14144 to get the unit to function as a repeating bridge.

Cons: none now that I found a build that worked. Had to downgrade the firmware from 1.3 to the 1.1 firmware from trendnet first, then install dd-wrt

Overall Review: If your looking for a deal on a repeater or bridge for your network, this will work well. Have played some xbox on it and it seems to have good throughput. As I said before I installed some self-adhesive chipset heatsinks to the processor and switch to help with the overheating issues.
