Pros: kinda sorta ran a little
Cons: BSODs galore. Throws tons of errors in Memtest86 v8.1
Will have to RMA with Corsair
Overall Review: so far two pairs of of my 4 of this model have been defective.
Pros: ran for a little
Cons: throws Errors in Memtest86 v8.1. Will have to RMA with Corsair.
may not be able to get CAS latency to run at spec with Threadripper via XMP2
Overall Review: lets hope the lifetime warranty works well
Pros: Works as advertised
Cons: might not be able to get it to run at advertised CAS latency via XMP2 on threadripper
Pros: Used with a AMD 2200G and set with XMP and works well.
Pros: PC in another room needed wireless, and this works really well on the 5GHz range. So far, very happy.
Pros: Great for low end systems. Love seasonic. Very well built
Overall Review: dat warranty
Pros: integrated GPU ain't half bad for what it is. Good performance for an entry level chip.
Cons: no SMT, but at this price i can't really complain
Pros: Worked right out the box with RAM not on the QVL list (corsair CMK8GX4M2A2400C14 @ XMP profile speeds)
So far, so good.
Overall Review: there are BIOS updates, so might as well get that done during setup.
Pros: runs as 70C or less at full power in furmark
fan curve is decent out the box, and isn't too loud (unless you crack that fan past 77%)
Cons: No black plate, but then again the card is super light. Cooling Could be a bit better. I'm sure some better thermal compound would help out.
Overall Review: Software isn't as good as nVidia and stuff, but still good enough. Running FreeSync on two 4K screen was glitchy at first, but seams to be fine now.
Pros: Very easy to work on. Foxconn socket was easy to screw in. BIOS update was simple. things just work. 3 year warranty now. Great price to performance build.
Cons: can't get QVL listed ram at rated speed via XMP. fastest I can get it at is 2660 via XMP.
(CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Memory Kit Model CMK16GX4M2B3000C15)
Granted, this model of ram can be made by Hynx, Samsung (the one you want) and one other company, I have the one from Hynx - all 3 of which are QVL listed as confirmed supported. On latest BIOS as of 2/17/2018 (BIOS v2) and BSOD at 2800MHz XMP, and no boot on 3000 XMP.
EDIT as of 3/1/2018 -
The RAM was in the wrong slots. Moved them to the correct slots and now i can get XMP to 3000MHz without any issue on my RAM.
Overall Review: If ASRock only sold a few dozen boards and all the reviews here were from the people who got them, they would be out of business. Remember - people who have good experiences DON'T often review. People who have bad experiences do. That skews the perception of reliability. Its a good board. the BIOS is good. works great.
Pros: EDIT as of 3/1/2018
I have v5.xxx (hynx) and was having problems getting it to 3000MHz on my ASRock x399 Tiachi. Couldn't get it post 2667MHz.
Turns out the RAM was inserted into the wrong slots, and after switching them over i can get XMP to get them at 3000MHz without issue. Back up to 5 eggs!
Cons: Price - dude, the cost of RAM right now is ridiculous. but compared to the competition, its a "good" price to performance.
Overall Review: CPU - AMD 1950x
MOBO - ASRock Tiachi x399
Pros: can pull 85MB/s off this thing with my good micro SD cards. I was only getting 20MB/s with my old USB 2.0 card reader. Totally worth every penny.
Overall Review: well built, all fits well, fast, and priced right.
Pros: we use an external mic to record audio via my phone separate from the video camera for a number of reasons. This little thing did a great job at allowing us more flexibility in audio recording choices.
Overall Review: a must have for those special situations
Pros: extended my PWM fan long enough to reach a weird spot on my motherboard. All is well! Got it on sale here on newegg super cheap.
Overall Review: no more Molex to PWM. Go PWM directly if you can.
Pros: Fantastic build quality. 12 year warranty. Great power delivery. Its a primo product
Cons: some cables should have been longer, but it all works.
Overall Review: Used on my threadripper build - perfect match.
Pros: I use it for video editing - and every thread gets used. Its a beast.
Cons: None. I knew exactly what I was getting and what it was for.
Overall Review: yeah, you can game on it too. But seriously, its not optimized for that. Its a Pro-sumer kinda product.
Pros: Had it for years now doing work in my video camera. Its never gone bad even after a ton of writes and re-wrights.
Pros: As a network Technician I can say that CAT 7 are my favorite cables to work with. These ones are a close runner up to the ones that I normally use, but they work very well.
Cons: none to speak of.
Pros: This RAM is fantastic due to its super low CAS, which is something people over look all the time. I have tested it against my old RAM that runs at 1333 MHz @ CAS 9
and I can assure you the tests prove that this lower frequency RAM is faster. Lower MHz tends to produce less heat as well.
Overall Review: Always do the math. Don't just look at once set of numbers.
Pros: fast for a platter. High capacity. I remember the days when I wanted to pay this price for a 32GB raptor.
Cons: load. But what did you expect?
Pros: Possible the best PSU i've ever used. the modular use is great. Its powerful, efficient and up to date for use in the most high end rigs. Quite as well.
Cons: Price. But you earn that back in the money you save by using a Platinum PSU.
Pros: So far so good. Using it with Ivy Bridge's new memory controller makes it so 1600MHz RAM runs just as fast as the higher speed stuff does without needed the high profile expensive RAM. And since Ivy's memory controller maxes out at 1600MHz, i got the 1600MHz to match. Compared to RAM of the same speed on a 1st gen Core i7, the speed is doubble. I did the tests. Ivy is amazing. No need for super high speed RAM.
Pros: Been using the MX series since MX-2. Still my favorite compound.
I know people swear by arctic silver 5, but if you plan on keeping the stuff there for a long time, MX-4 does just as good and does not need to be replaced as often.
