First MSi Experiance7/16/2011 1:30:35 PM

Pros: -Size -Keyboard Feels Solid -THX Sound is clear When I first bought this laptop I wanted a smaller form factor laptop to complement my higher powered desktop for gaming on the go and 3d modeling applications such as 3ds Max and Mudbox.

Cons: -MSi Driver support is terrible -Graphics driver has many, many issues when switched to High Power mode Upon arrival I liked the size and feel of the laptop in general, but the drivers and bloat ware were trash right from the first boot. When I go to play games, watch Netflix or use my 3d modeling applications all of them have this issue where the displayed application is offset to the left slightly and you loose about 1/2 inch of screen. This also effects the mouse pointer, which is supposed to click right where the pointer tip is, however it does not and clicks way offset also about 1/2 inch. This issue is a graphics driver problem, I've tried using an external mouse and completely re-installing windows 7, the problem has persisted for months and MSi has never updated its graphics drivers. I really should have sent the laptop back but I just figured it would be a documented problem and fixed shortly, this is not so. You are unable to update the drivers from ATI's website.

Overall Review: This problem is completely frustrating because it makes my need for accurate pointer control in modeling applications entirely unusable. The only way to get around this problem is to use the low power intel integrated graphics which is pointlessly under powered. MSi, when are you going to update your drivers? its been months and nothing, thanks for giving the customers the support they want. As other users have posted, the S-bar is frustrating, if your hating it just like I have and are reading this, uninstall it completely, your Fn buttons will still work you just wont see the visual pop-ups when you press the buttons. I really regret this purchase and MSi's quality control and product support is completely unacceptable, this will be my last purchase from this company.

Its cheap, its shows.5/2/2011 2:11:59 PM

Pros: - Allows you to mount laptop hardrives, aka 2.5' drives via USB. -Comes witha Y type usb cable which allows for slightly improved transfer rates. (one cable is fully dedicated to transfer data while the other powers the hardrive) However a nice feature is that you dont need to have 2 slots for the drive to work, it will work of you only have one avalible, just plug in the main USB connector and not the thinner cable USB connector. You just wont get the slight performance increase. -

Cons: -Nubs that hold the case togeather wear down and make the closure feel loose and like its rattleing around. -space left for sliding the hardrive in place allows for the harddrive to slide back and disconnect from the sata connectors while still in the enclosure. A bit of rolled up tiolet paper or paper towl solved this issue for me.

Overall Review: -Over all it meets my needs and I use it heavely with my netbook and laptop's harddrives. I'm regularly opening it up and swaping out its contents.

Pros: Runs everything I play at max. Everything. I play alot of games. Pretty much every major title that hits PC it play. what looks good these days.....crysis 2? yeah, max. Over clocks well with evga precision or MSI afterburner. I laugh at people that get the SE version on sale these days, they have a cut down ammount of cuda cores, while this one has the full 336 cuda cores.

Cons: *

Overall Review: I'm scared to try and max out BF3, I don't think thats going to happen, mostly dude to the fact that I use a core i3, regardless of my overclock its still a dual core. NVIDIA + EVGA FOR LIFE

Great Case5/2/2011 1:48:19 PM

Pros: -Roomy! -Anti-Dust filters. -Cable managment is best I've owned. -Spots for external water cooling. -large fans, 2 120mm's and 2 140mm's total. -Awsome tooless PCI card holders. Action is smooth nd cards are held in place firmly. -Deceint drive bay tooless desigh, holder is made out of plasitc, as opposed to PCI holder which is solid metal. -PSU breathing vent on bottom also comes with dust filter.

Cons: -Have to buy aftermaket screws for mounting the top 140mm fans on this case. They come with the same anti vibration rubber sleeves that are on the fans it ships with. Search newegg for "lian li screws", often they are out of stock. If you don't want to deal with the hassel and want them all at the same time, they have a fully loaded black interior model that is slighly more expensive. I was able to jimmy-rig 2 80mm fans up there with a couple large faced screws. She works for now. WARNING! Top and front covers are easily removable for cleaning dust and working on components. NEVER CARRY THIS CASE BY THE PLASTIC PANELLING. That said, I did this and it had bad results.

Overall Review: Dropped it while moving into a new appt. Case had componets contained within it when it dropped from arm height straight to concreate. I was left with the top pannel in my left and and the front in my right with my jaw dropping to the ground. bottom left corner bent slightly, this thing must be reinforced, it's straight solid. Side planel removel was not effected, phew. There was no way this thing was going to boot. No way. Ran inside and plugged in a screen and the computer, she booted right up, been running her sience with no problems. THIS CASE IS 4 FOOT DROP APPROVED! 3.4 when I got it, 3.6 now5/2/2011 1:21:18 PM

Pros: -Initially overclocked to 3.4 on stock heatsink. -Overcloced now with a Corsiar a50 cpu cooler @ 3.62. a50 keeps temps at 22-28 idle, 35-42 under load, my load being gaming. -Good temps on stock, great temps on aftermarket -Most games only use 2 cores, my CPU runs at 3.6 while your quad for more money is running 2.0ish. gg.

Cons: -Its not a i5,i7, or a any quadcore for that matter.

Overall Review: Overclock is using X.M.P. with G.skill ram on a Asus mobo. X.M.P brings the ram from 1600 to 1800 at the same time the cpu goes from 2.93 to 3.6 at a 20x multiplyer. I only hate on quadcores becasue I can't afford them.

Pure Light5/2/2011 1:06:22 PM

Pros: Look great, I had them mounted in a fully see-through clear acrilic ATX case. You can find them on newegg. With these lights in it it light up all the componets and also the room! I loved it, it was like a little lamp on the floor that lightly lit up the room while gaming in the dark.

Cons: I have sience sold this fan/case computer setup to use the money to upgrade to a newer computer. I really wish I had kept the case and fans.

Overall Review: Unlike red, blue or green lights which will turn the room and surrounding objects an actual color, these white led fans just light things up, and dont paint them a specific color. Kind of like wearing colored sunglasses, if you know what I mean. I really really wish I had kept the case and fans.

Rips my Jaws5/2/2011 12:57:40 PM

Pros: -Heatsinks -Easily Over clocked to 1800+ -X.M.P. Ready -Cas timings flexable

Cons: -Didnt buy 4 more gigs. -Bought it when it was 100$, not 50$ -Won't rate correctly in Windows Experiance Index.

Overall Review: Even when over clocked from 1600 to 1800, in X.M.P. , it still only rates a 5.9 in windows experiance index. Called G.Skill, rep said WEI is only semi reliable at rating the computer and assured me that the ram was working as intended. At his direction, I tested the ram with Everest, and it was running at correct timings and speed. I am running this beside a core i3, the rep also indicated it could be dude to my lower performing CPU that the 4gb of Ram is rating so low. I doubt it b/c it’s overclocked to 3.6ghz. Regardless, this is still rocksolid ram that runs great even a year after inital purchase. Who knows, maybe seince its 1/2 the price now I may get more and the rating may just finally fix itself. 4/5 eggs.

Manufacturer Response:
. Dear Customer Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working well in your system. Although your CPU frequency is overclocked, it still does not fully optimize memory performance. If you search for comparisons of i3 vs. i5 or i7 online, there is a lot of information that can better explain this limitation. There are many causes for the normal 5.9 WEI score, but rest assured your system is operating at maximum performance. Thank you GSKILL SUPPORT Quality and customer service are our top priorities. Laptop gaming2/17/2009 11:47:07 PM

Pros: I got this from circuit city a while back. I went off to college and my gaming rig shifted from an old scrap Desktop to a (at the time) higher end laptop for gaming. When playing games this thing gets HOTTT but after putting on of these coolers under it the temps dropped a deceit amount. When playing newer games like Left 4 Dead, my computer will shut down after 45m or so if im not using this cooler. It works.

Cons: Laptops usually have a left exaust that hot air is blasted out of. the CPU and GPU are close to that opening, i usually set my laptop so that one of the fans is directly under where the CPU is and the rest of my laptop hands off the end. Idk if this helps but it makes sense in my head so...Air is also sucked from sides of where computer sits, all coolers will have this as laptops come with rubber stands. High setting is audibly noticeable, however thats not a con because it means its moving air so...

Overall Review: Laptops usually have a left exaust that hot air is blasted out of. the CPU and GPU are close to that opening, i usually set my laptop so that one of the fans is directly under where the CPU is and the rest of my laptop hangs off the end. Idk if this helps but it makes sense in my head so... The top is metal with circular cut holes, plastic frame and rubber stands where it sits.
