HTPC
Pros: Got this and the case as a package deal at a great price, don't have any way of testing the true capabilities of the card, but it runs my htpc without an issue, and that's all I plan to do with it shouldn't disappoint
Cons: none
Overall Review: I was looking at the mini itx boards and if I was just using the pc for streaming another source or watching hd from cable that probably would have been my route, but I plan on using the pc to store media, and a lot of it, so having something with more space for RAM, sata was a must, the additional PCI ports vs a mini itx are another plus, leaves room for additional sata controllers / wireless / video ect..
Fan sucks
Pros: Worked great for 11 months
Cons: Fan DIED last night, waiting to see what scythe will do to make it right. My only hope is that the motherboard and CPU are going to survive this ordeal
Overall Review: Fan really should have lasted more than 1 year. I know that I am not the only one that feels this way on here. Two fans in 10 days, seems better quality control may be needed. Like I said tho, I'm still waiting to hear back from Scythe, I'm hoping that they will make things right, but it sucks because my system is down for the time being while I wait
Works As Expected
Pros: Fast Data transfer, roughly 440 MB/s transfer testing on new MacBook Pro. Seems to be faster than old one I have and it plugs right into the computer
Cons: None
What to say
Pros: Good Unit, Cools well once I got it working.
Cons: Build quality was very poor, inner blower wheel was cracked on 3 of the 4 arms, however nothing else in the unit was damaged, which to me seems that someone put it together broken. The following is the part number for the wheel if anyone else experiences the same issue 5304476058. I did take away 3 eggs, because I feel that this was something that should not have gotten out of the factory, it is obvious carelessness on Frigidaire's part. I understand a faulty compressor, but not a fan that is very obvious.
Overall Review: Newegg, you saved an egg on here, I did not complete an RMA, however, with this being my first experience in thousands of dollars spent with a faulty product I was curious to see how well Newegg performed with the RMA process. I have to say that I am VERY impressed. They were willing to pay for the shipping on a 60+ pound item, and had swift correspondence with me. Thank you for wanting to treat your customers right the first time around. I will spend a little extra to know that I am getting the customer service that you offer. The funny thing is that 99% of the time you guys are the cheapest to be found. I wish more people operated like you.
Good little PC
Pros: It's a good little PC, I am currently using it as a secondary Media PC in a bedroom, streams HD from primary PC just fine with built in wifi. I'm running a airport extreme for a router. Initial load timed in wmc are a little slower than my quad amd, but I'm not going to count that as a bad thing because it's like comparing a geo to BMW. This thing does everything that I want it to do. I may be pushing it close to it's limit but upgrading to more than 1gb of ram and a ssd should fix load speeds, I just dont feel the need.
Cons: Fan can be a little noisy at times, but that is expected in a small package like this.
Overall Review: 1gb ram 80gb 5400 junk drive from old laptop and it does what I want, works for me
Noisy fan
Pros: On off switch. Esata
Cons: This thing seems to have a cheap build quality, and I was hoping for something with a little better quality than what I got, the rubber feet don't want to stick on, the face seems to fall off easily when pulled on (not hard, just annoying when assembling) and the fan seems like it has a bad bearing or something. Makes a weird ticking sound but cant see it hitting anything. I only use the drive maybe once a month so it isn't worth it for me to spend the time and energy for an RMA, but it was a little disappointing. I was just hoping for something with a marginally better build quality
Overall Review: on off switch negates the fan issue, but it wouldn't be something that I would want to listen to on a full time drive
