No Disappointments

Pros: This is a great screen and I have no disappointments in buying it. One big relief is the AG coating which is NOTHING like what some people claimed (read other thoughts). + IPS panel (e-IPS also read cons, and yes it can be both) + 1920x1200 resolution (16:10 aspect, not 16:9) + No dead or stuck pixels (not a single one... woohoo) + Very bright/clear (even at 35% brightness) + Highly adjustable stock monitor stand + Very nice and easy to use on screen menus + Wide viewing angle + Very power efficient (21 watts using a calibrated ICC) I downloaded an ICC profile from TFT Central's calibration database and it worked great. If you buy this screen and don't have your own calibration device I recommend a visit to TFT Central.
Cons: My cons are quibbles really. However they are worth noting: - No HDMI - No Display port cable (did come with VGA and DVI cables) - Cost - e-IPS (the low end IPS) If you want to read more about panel technology, check out TFT Central (just Google "tft central panel technologies explained"). They have a great article on the different LCD types. They also have a good review of the U2412M.
Overall Review: #1, the Antiglare coating is just fine. A smattering of people made a big deal about the "graininess" of the AG. Either the monitor has been redesigned or these people are nuts. It is very smooth (not slick of course) and displays NONE of the qualities that some have stated. I can get VERY close and can't see it. This is a relief as it was my one real concern about ordering this monitor. #2, the power savings are phenomenal. I'm moving from an older 20" LCD using a pMVA panel and CFL back lighting. The 20 inch screen uses 45 watts, while this one uses 21 (both measured with a Kill A Watt using the exact same background image. So, I can power 2 of the U2412M monitors for less power than my one 20" screen! #3, the monitor selection in the: 24", 16:10, LED back light, non-TN panel... segment is very limited. Based on everything I read from professional reviewers, cost and feature set, this was the monitor to buy. Now that it is on my desk, I'm sold all over again!
Nice idea, bad quality

Pros: In theory these are benefits, if the units lasted... (see cons below): + Energy Efficient + Wall mountable (or floor stand) + Remote Control + Quiet
Cons: Sadly I have purchased two of these heaters. The first one died about 9 months after we bought it. It was used very lightly in our infants bedroom to keep the temperature up a little bit at night. It was always set between 68-71 on the low wattage setting and didn't have to run very much. We live where it is very rarely very cold and our house is well insulated. One day, 9 months in it just stopped producing heat, no matter what the setting was. So, we thought we may just have had a defective unit and we liked the functionality of it when it was working so we bought another one, hoping it would last. The second unit was used less than the first one (warmer time of the year) and lasted for an even shorter time. The quality of the parts is just not very good. I don't want you to do what we did and think it might not happen to you. Stick with a better built / higher quality brand like DeLonghi. See below...
Overall Review: We have owned a DeLonghi Mica Panel heater for more than a year (before we got the Soleus) and only bought the Soleus because of 1) Remote Control, 2) Digital Thermostat. We should have stuck with the manual dial, no remote DeLonghi and saved ourselves a couple dead Soleus'. I'm headed back online now to search for a DeLonghi HHP1500. hopefully Newegg will have them as we have never had a problem with any purchase/shipping from Newegg. They are a great retailer. The Soleus problem is ** not a reflection on Newegg ** in any way. I would however urge Newegg to remove this item from their offerings. It is a poor quality item and it would be doing a service to the customers to not sell it.
Overall Disappointing

Pros: + Price, compared to other 16:10 aspect screens + Energy efficient (LED) + No or Virtually no Heat Generation
Cons: - TN panel and small viewing angle - Vertical viewing angle is really limited - Consistency in the image brightness (edge to edge/corner to corner) is not great - Very limited height adjustment when in portrait mode
Overall Review: Overall I'm pretty disappointed. Keeping in mind that I put it on a desk alongside a Dell UltraSharp U2412M, which is an IPS panel. This was the big mistake. Compared to the U2412, the HP panel is a real disappointment. However I should have known better and that is my fault. I want to drop it to 2 eggs but I'm moderating my judgement by trying to think about how I'd see the panel by itself. I'd still be less than thrilled but more like 3 eggs. If you need to save the dollars, this screen certainly works and is 16:10. If you can spend just a little more the Dell is a very easy choice and the one I wish I'd made.
If only it had a better mount...

Pros: We use this with Skype and it works great as far as function and picture quality go. We're using XP Pro sp3 (still) and there have been no compatibility issues.
Cons: 1) The mount/clamp works well on a desktop monitor but for the thinner notebook screens (especially the LED ones) it is hard to get it on and stable. This is by far the biggest con for the cam. 2) The USB cable is not removable on the Cam. It makes it less versatile and more difficult to pack into a tight notebook case. They should have put a micro USB jack on the Cam to facilitate packing it away and the use of reel type USB cables (all I care on the road).
Overall Review: The quality of the cam is very good. If only they had done more testing on thin notebook screens. It screams for a revised model with a better clamp/mount and a USB jack. That would make it a no brainier purchase.
Works but has limitations

Pros: * Relatively low cost * Raid5 & Raid10 support * Supports Booting from the array * 4 ports * PCI (hey it is a pro if you need it) * Simple installation * Low profile bracket included * Cables included (normal SATA2 cables) This is a solidly built, low end RAID card for >>LOW<< end servers and desktop systems. It is also PCI, so it is useful in older systems that do not have PCIe slots. Are you creating a backup storage server out of an old server that doesn't already have SATA RAID5? This may be a good solution for you.
Cons: * Does not work with VMware ESXi * Slow * Very poor management and event notification Make very sure that you can live with the functionality that the management platform has to offer. It is very very thin. The SMTP settings only allow you to put in a "from address", a "Subject" and a "Server Name". No port, user, password, etc... You will need a VERY friendly SMTP server to make this work. I'd suggest running HmailServer (it very light weight) on the server with the RAID card if you don't already have an internal SMTP server that you can use.
Overall Review: This card is a reasonable alternative for *low performance* systems that do not have built in SATA RAID, do not have PCIe -and- have non mission critical data or programs on them. Do not fork out top dollar for fast hard drives. There is no point. WD "Green" drives would be a great pairing for this card. Even then, the card is likely to be the bottleneck. This is really no better than the internal/integrated RAID that I have used in the past. There is no hardware acceleration of RAID5. You will also need to be extremely careful about monitoring the storage system attached to this card. The management software is very limited. This is a primary reason that it won't be used for anything mission critical. Note that there also have been no firmware or driver updates (except for Win7) in recent years. It looks like a stagnant product that is unlikely to have "fixes" released. Remember it is what it is, and it is not a $500+ RAID card...
Great with ESXi 4.0

Pros: + Works seamlessly with ESXi 4.0. + 8 ports + Fast + Extremely stable + SAS + SATA + 6 Gb/s + Extremely flexible RAID management
Cons: None
Overall Review: I wish these were cheaper but it was worth the price to have a 100% solid ESXi storage solution. I'm running 4 Seagate 750GB SATA drives in RAID5 with two 1.1TB containers. This is in a Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H motherboard. Everything worked together perfectly.
