Cheap Sleeves! I got mine!

TekNmotion TM-WS100 Single CD/DVD 100 white paper sleeves
TekNmotion TM-WS100 Single CD/DVD 100 white paper sleeves

Pros: What can I say? It’s just want you expect at a good price. Sweet.

Cons: none

Overall Review: Have you ever had a person burn you a CD or DVD and hand it to you without a sleeve? It’s kind of rude. Get some sleeves, join the human race.

I changed my mind on this badboy . . .

KINGWIN KF-2000-BK 3.5" Internal hot swap rack
KINGWIN KF-2000-BK 3.5" Internal hot swap rack

Pros: I started out loving this rack. The very concept of slipping in a “naked” drive without any tray is very compelling. The latch mechanism is nice too; it has mechanical linkage to help pry the drive loose from its connectors. It works well, although I found that some Seagate drives I slipped into mine fitted a little tighter than my Samsung drives. Over all, it seems real nice. But . . .

Cons: . . . the problem with this enclosure is inadequate cooling! The bay has a small fan in the back that is connected to a switch. The switch will close once you insert a drive. But take a moment to study the bay’s interior. You will see that no real channel for air flow is provided. The drive fits too tightly to allow for any sensible air flow rate. The plastic cover, while at first site seems to be a plus, is in fact nothing more than an insulated container into which a valuable data storage device is to reside. And mind you, drives put out a lot of heat. I became aware that my drives are running to hot, and plan on replacing these bays with the “coverless” model. (Search Newegg for “Kingwin” and find the coverless model.) I hope the coverless models will keep my drives cool, because I really do want to continue to use this tray-less rack style. Other downsides are: 1) Lack of drive activity indicator 2) it would seem prudent to incorporate a transparent window in the door

Overall Review: I really like this bay concept, and have become an evangelists for sled-less bays! So it saddens me to have discovered the cooling problem with this particular model. I wish someone would come up with an all metal enclosure that has provisions for quality cooling (a water plane?). It would be nice to stack a pile of these in a Windows Home Server. Good luck with your computing guys, - Stan

As expected - sweet!

Overall Review: My experience with GOHARDDRIVE.COM I ordered my drive through Newegg.com I did not realize at the time, but Newegg was actually selling me the drive via GOHARDDRIVE.COM I did some webbing to read up on GOHARDDRIVE.COM and found a few mixed reviews. After my Newegg order had been placed I realized that my shipping address needed some clarification. So, I sent GOHARDDRIVE.COM an email. GOHARDDRIVE.COM Replied quickly with an apropo response. Their replay was concise and expressed both an understanding of my concern and an assurance that they would remedy the matter. After the email exchange, I was impressed with GOHARDDRIVE.COM - fast, polite and intelligent reply. When I actually received my drive, I was also impressed with the shipping. I found it triple wrapped! 1) Manufacturer's factory-sealed Mylar bag. 2) Bubble-wrapped and placed in small cardboard box 3) The box was again bubbled-wrapped and placed in a USPS shipping pouch. All-in-all, the drive was shipped every bit as well as one would hope for. This is a major plus for GOHARDDRIVE.COM - as even Newegg has been somewhat lacking in the way they have shipped hard drives. (Although in all honesty, Newegg has been better about shipping lately as opposed to the past.) From my experience, I will have no hesitation about purchasing from GOHARDDRIVE.COM in the future. magnífica, extraordinaria , maravillosa , espectacular :-)

Best Value for the Best Drive . . .

SAMSUNG EcoGreen F4 ST2000DL004 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
SAMSUNG EcoGreen F4 ST2000DL004 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Excellent value, runs cool (thanks to the 5400 RPM), fully compliant with SATA standard, top brand, and of cource – large capacity! Gotta love it.

Cons: none

Overall Review: I have been a big user of hard drives over the years, and this drive, by far, is my favorite! I am fully convinced that 5400 RPM is the way to go. It runs cool, and the bearing experiences less overall wear. I will easily tradeoff speed for longevity with it comes to hard drives. If you purchase one of these bad-boys, will not regret it!

Gotta love 'em

Overall Review: I picked up 8 Gb of these bad-boy during the Newegg “Black Friday” sale. Parts have been installed on a new Windows 7 mobo and are doing the job nicely. Good quality, good price, good job Newegg! Thanks :-)
