Well, it'll be new speakers, I guess...
Pros: This thing'll do anything I need it to do...I am somewhat of an audiophile, I have good ears, and this card can go places my current speaker set-up won't go. The Vista driver is flawless, so far, none of the problems I had with the variety of Creative products I've gone through. I hope I'm satisfied with the Z-5500s, 'cuz I think that's where I'm going.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: I've cycled four different sets of speakers past this thing so far (three different 2.1s, and a 5.1 set-up ATM) and the sound just keeps astounding me; what it can make lesser hardware do is hard to believe. The card is stupid-great...Creative ought to be ashamed, it's products pale in comparison.
I'll give it five eggs
Pros: Every comment with this rig needs to be qualified - I guess I have to refer to it as an uncut gem, in need of a great sound card/controls (I'm using the Auzentech Prelude) to harness the prodigous output. This system's default mode is the one that jumps out and wows you 'cuz it wants to go home with you, but, like a puppy in need of house-breaking, it'll exhibit traits that'll leave you a bit exasperated unless you can address them. The bass everyone raves about is there in abundance; not extended - it's not real deep, but it has the punch and impact that satisfies, and in the spaces people use their PCs, this is plenty - just be advised that it is not audiophile-quality, though this can be optimized with a good card and controls. The mids and highs are VERY bright and need to be subject to a good EQing, but the sheer ability of the satellites to broadcast with power and clarity is the true measure of this system, to my mind. Nice-looking stuff, too.
Cons: None, really, apart from the lack of real bass extension; maybe the controller could be a wee bit smaller and easier to tuck away.
Overall Review: Funny; the same qualities that scream "buy me" in a demo are the ones you need to rein in once you buy the darn thing. Actually, I guess it's a pretty solid marketing technique, huh?
Affordable quality
Pros: It certainly does the job for me; I can sit back, relax, and use my pc - no more squinting (I was using a 22" Samsung). Range of adjustment is nice, zero stuck/dead pixels, stand is sturdy, and I don't miss having a height adjustable monitor. Don't think I'll need another one for quite some time.
Cons: Initially had no problems getting the monitor to sleep, then reinstalled the OS (same in both cases; Vista Ultimate 64-bit), and no more sleep (a common problem, I hear). It'll get solved; in the meantime, we'll see how the switch reacts to all the extra use.
Overall Review: We need more products that give this kind of value for the money...it's almost like getting a tax break.
Value, value, value
Pros: Great image; color management/controls are straightforward and effective - no dead pixels or other "delivery" negatives. I'm very happy with it.
Cons: Speakers are a bit underpowered and wimpy; I'm using this unit in an environment where ambient noise levels vary greatly, and the volume level tops out a bit short at times.
Overall Review: Newegg comes through again - Lord Almighty, the money I've spent with them...I'd feel bad if they weren't so solid.
All I needed to know
Pros: It functions perfectly, though I was sold before I bought them (I have two) - I shopped flash drives like anything else I buy from Newegg, by checking reviews. Many drives had excellent reviews; up to 20, 30, or 40 of them. This one had excellent reviews as well: several HUNDRED of them. That was enough for me...
Cons: None.
Overall Review: I really like the rubberized cover; I hate handling small things that are easily fumbled/dropped. I'd like to find a rubberized cellphone, for example.
Solid stuff
Pros: I have three of these (one mounted in an external case), and they are almost dead quiet, plenty fast, and 100% trouble-free...I can't ask for more from any product.
Cons: None whatsoever.
Overall Review: I have heard this HDD isn't RAID-friendly, which, if true (that is to say, if that problem cannot be sorted) is a definite negative - a pity, because this is a sterling unit in all other respects.
