Excellent for Older Computers
Pros: I purchased this card for an older E-Machine that would not support a new 1440 x 900 wide screen monitor. Installation was quite simple, and Windows XP found drivers and adjusted the resolution automatically, after I disabled the onboard graphics built into the motherboard. I then installed the drivers from the enclosed CD. No other adjustments were necessary. The sharpness of the type on the screen is excellent, and DVD's are also quite clear, and much better than with the original graphics card. Since I do not use this computer for games, I cannot comment on the speed of the card.
Cons: None! It works perfectly.
Overall Review: Simple installation that went automatically on Windows XP, supports a new 1440 x 900 monitor, sharp text and DVD-video, and supports two monitors. I was surprised by how well this card works, and compatible it is in an older computer.
Locks Up Windows Vista
Pros: None for Window Vista -
Cons: I installed this card easily on my Dell E521 with Vista Ultimate. The driver was installed automatically. Afterwards the computer refused to boot, leaving only a black screen when Windows tried to load. It did boot in Safe Mode, and I was able to perform a "System Restore." Now the computer works perfectly again.
Overall Review: Do not buy this card until there are drivers for Vista. The present drivers prevent Vista from booting!
Nothing Works - Useless
Pros: I have been using Version 11 for years and it worked perfectly. The 2014 Version is totally useless because not one task functions.
Cons: I loaded this on a Dell windows 8.1 system. Not one function worked at all. It read the disks properly but does absolutely nothing.
Overall Review: I am really disappointed after being so happy with the previous version.
Very Accurate Color
Pros: I purchased this to adjust photos for printing and the internet. It has very accurate color that exactly matches the inkjet prints made at a large wholesale warehouse. The resolution is so high that the mouse has to be adjusted to get it across the screen. I have not seen any of the issues others have noted with lines and dead pixels. It is exactly what I hoped it was going to be.
Cons: The color is not as pretty as on other monitors because it is accurate instead.
Overall Review: The most perfect monitor I own. I have no bad issues.
Works Perfectly with XP
Pros: Worked perfectly as a replacemnt drive for my XP system. I set it on the "cable select" jumper and it booted up perfectly the first time. My computer is mounted on its side and the disks feed in perfectly, unlike the cheap drive that jammed, that came with my no-name cheap computer.
Cons: The software included is mostly a trial version and very annoying. Ads show up to buy $70 worth of software for a $41 dollar drive. I am using old Sony software that came with a more expensive Sony retail drive that works perfectly.
Overall Review: If I buy a retail drive I would expect the software included to be fully functional, not trial versions and advertising that has to be removed because it is so annoying. Shame on you, Sony :-(
Solid
Pros: Solidly built and has a real plug for the hard drive, and a cool looking blue light coming from the bottom. It was easy to set up and worked the first time on Vista with a 500 gig drive.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Of the six different brands I own, this is the best one.
