Glad I got it

RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case
RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Im not a computer wiz, and this was my first time building a computer. Fold Down Trays:This is a good case for someone with large hands. I was free to put the parts in at my own comfort, and did not have to worry about tangles or working in tight spaces with tweezers. Space inside is nice for the size of the case. Just one warning, if you have a whale of a video card like I do, do not install a HD in the top of the lower bay. It will come in contact with the card. I was expecting slightly flimsy side trays, but the entire case is pretty sturdy and the doors lock in well. Airflow with all 5 fans in is pretty good despite the video card looking like it will block it. Appearance/name. I am a biologist so I kinda geeked at the name. Appearance is Overall, it is my opinion that its a solid case, it does everything that the company claimed it would. And, in addition, I have a slick looking case. If I intended to build another computer at this time, I would get another

Cons: The front 120mm fan is a pain to remove. You have to remove the lower HD rack (easy), and then pop out 4 pins and remove the front. It was missing 1 standoff, but I am an obsessive planner and the toolkit I had purchased had plenty of spares. The case is pretty sturdy all around, but I see the front door hinges as being the weakest link. No problems at all with it, just general observation

Overall Review: I replaced the fans with Apevia ones due to seeing reviews that the fans failed quickly for some. 2 green LED 120mm, 1 green LED 80mm, 2 regular non-led 80mm. The glow is not overpowering (it is soft and pleasing) and the noise is very low. The color also matches the green LEDs of the case.

Excellent board

Pros: I purchased this on a whim as it had far more capabilities than the board I was looking at yet only slightly more. And, as a biologist the name amused me. First impressions are everything, and mine was that this board was good and solid. Immediately went to the manual and found it to be well organized, well illustrated, and the instructions were excellent. It put my mind at ease as a first time builder. Everything came together quite well. Half the features I am not going to use, but it gives me room to expand. Plenty of PCI slots to expand capabilites, SLI capability. There is an insanely high Ram capacity that I doubt I will ever need, and its easier to overclock. Im not a gamer, but I certainly could get into that with a board like this. Was impressed as well by the complete instructions on BIOS setup and the ability to update them without having to pull out a floppy. Never done that before, and it went smoothly.

Cons: None. Even at my most critical, I have nothing that I can complain about.

Overall Review: I ended up having to call Asus when the computer didnt start up first time round. There was a certain amount of suprise when I found Asus has not outsourced its phone support and the people are excellent. The moment I stated I was a first time builder, the lady geared down the tech speak to an understandable level and assisted me checking plugs, and running some simple tests to track down the problem. She was patient with my questions, and explained every step thoroughly. Received my replacement board and PSU from Newegg, and it started right up. It says alot when a company has reliable equipment, but that is not worth anything if they have awful customer service/tech support. I am VERY pleased with Asus and its people. I will look at their products first and favorably if/when I do another home build.
