A little slow but silent

VIA EPIA-EN12000EG 1.2GHz VIA C7 nanoBGA2 Embedded Processor VIA CN700 Mini ITX Motherboard / CPU Combo
VIA EPIA-EN12000EG 1.2GHz VIA C7 nanoBGA2 Embedded Processor VIA CN700 Mini ITX Motherboard / CPU Combo

Pros: I researched fanless mainboards for days before choosing this one. It is indeed a little slow, but that is completely unnoticeable in routine business tasks in Windows XP SP2. Gigabit ethernet and all sorts of video options are a plus. Drivers loaded without problems. The silence is eerie.

Cons: No DVI built-in although you can get the daughterboard as I did. It works fine, but the cable comes out the top of the board and its a tight fit in my Morex 3588 case.

Works great

SNT SNT-SAC3051TL 5 x 3.5" HDD in 3 x 5.25" Bay SAS/SATA Trayless Backplane Hot Swap RAID Cage

Pros: Easy install into an iStarUSA server case. The drives all work fine - I've tried many from 500GB to 1.5TB with no problems. Great price.

Cons: * No hard drive light, but I knew that before purchasing and didn't care. * Some drives require a little wiggling to seat into the trayless slot properly. * As other reviewers have mentioned, the fans are LOUD (see other thoughts).

Overall Review: After some research, I discovered that the fans on my unit were Yong Lin Tech DFC501512H (12V 4000RPM 8.79 CFM 28.88 dB). I don't believe the sound level since they sound MUCH louder than the Link Depot FAN-5015-B I replaced them with. I put a fan controller in and run them at about 3/4 speed. I also tried the Evercool EC5020M12CA but while the 20mm thickness would fit, the screws weren't exactly the right size. They weren't much quieter so I stuck with the Link Depot units.

Update

OCZ Platinum 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ3P1333LV6GK
OCZ Platinum 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ3P1333LV6GK

Pros: Stable since purchase. Fast memory.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: This is an update of my prior review regarding the rebate. I finally received my rebate check. I am guessing they sent me two rejection cards and one check because the memory comes as 3 pieces. Regarding the memory, I don't overclock so don't know how far you can push it, but it works at specs.

Good Memory; Rebate Bogus

OCZ Platinum 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ3P1333LV6GK
OCZ Platinum 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ3P1333LV6GK

Pros: Memory installed, was recognized and worked properly. System is stable for the last month. (Used on a Foxconn Renaissance with the i7)

Cons: I received my OCZ rebate rejection postcards today. I don't know why I received two, but both said "Sorry sucker, no rebate for you!". It is the only OCZ product I have bought in the last 3 years so it makes no sense.

Overall Review: I have not attempted to check on or optimize the timings (I have not dug in the BIOS trying to find the timings) so I can't comment on that. Newegg, as always, rocks!!
