Very fast performance. Boots on asrock z97.

SAMSUNG SM951 M.2 2280 512GB PCI-Express 3.0 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZHPV512HDGL-00000
SAMSUNG SM951 M.2 2280 512GB PCI-Express 3.0 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZHPV512HDGL-00000

Pros: Running as primary C: drive on Asrock Extreme6/ac motherboard, in main M.2_1 slot, along with Samsung XP941 in M.2_2 slot and 1tb Evo 850 via sata. Required bios update (v1.60) to recognize drive. Significant speed improvement over the XP941 in same slot. Crystaldiskmark 3.0.3 reports 1690/1576 sequential r/w, 1201/1546 512k, and 48/147 in 4k (qd32 is 157 read), all speeds in MB/s. Running win8.1 pro and 32gb 2400 gskill ram. Used Macrium to directly clone xp941 m.2 drive to the sm951 m.2 drive while in windows, changed boot order, came right up.

Cons: 4k qd32 testing shows significantly lower performance (about 1/8th as fast) as the XP941 or evo850, which is unusual. Have not yet attempted to troubleshoot but it is just a benchmark.

Overall Review: Great boot/app drive. Highly recommend the asrock z97 extreme6/ac motherboard if you want two m.2 drives and want to boot to them in Windows. Tip on install make sure you copy win8.1 to a USB so it can boot with the proper UEFI drivers and see your M.2 drive(s) during install. Google for more info. Pros: Finally got working after downloading drivers from Realtek website. Very stable and fast transfer speed via 802.11n using Cisco 2500 WAP.

Cons: Drivers would not work on Win7 pro 64-bit. Had to go to realtek website, search and download driver package for this: RTL8191SU That worked fine and

Overall Review: Works great once you find the proper drivers. Searching for the product name (IOgear GWU625) did not work, had to use chipset name then all was good.

Very fast performance. Boots on asrock z97.

SAMSUNG XP941 MZHPU512HCGL-00004(0) M.2 2280 512GB PCI-Express 2.0 x4 MLC Solid State Drive
SAMSUNG XP941 MZHPU512HCGL-00004(0) M.2 2280 512GB PCI-Express 2.0 x4 MLC Solid State Drive

Pros: Very fast drive. I bought this not knowing when to expect it's successor, the SM951. I have since purchased that as well and am running both the XP941 and SM951 in my asrock z97 extreme6/ac motherboard. The XP941 is very capable, fast, bootable on this motherboard. I recommend moving to the SM951 if your system will support it. Asrock supported it after a bios update to v1.60. I got about 1100MB/s read/write sequential on this drive and about 1700MB/s on the SM951 on same system (same slot apples/apples). Either drive will destroy anything you can plug into a SATA 6gbps interface due to bus limitations. I also have a Samsung evo850 on this system for media storage and it is about 60% the speed of the XP941 and about 35% as fast as the SM951.

Cons: none, get the SM951 if your system will support, it is about 30% faster.

great CPU, overclocks easily and stable

Pros: Great CPU. Running on asrock z97 setup, overclocked with one-click in the bios to 4.5ghz and it is ultra-stable and runs cool (runs all weekend on prime95 or other torture tests). I ran into some issues when attempting higher OC but I am very satisfied at 4.5ghz and feel it is a great value for $340 I paid.

Cons: none

Best MB I have ever owned

ASRock Z97 Extreme6/ac LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: I build a new PC from scratch every couple of years, and have been doing so since the late 1980's. Mostly gaming and business app rig. This is my first asrock motherboard, and I am completely satisfied with it. Definitely delivers on all of the great reviews I read while researching. Primary reason I chose this was for all the features of course, but specifically I was looking for something that could take full advantage of the new samsung M.2 SSD drives as a boot drive. I can confirm that you can get either or both Samsung XP941 and/or SM951 to boot in this MB, in either m.2 slot. Requires latest bios to detect the SM951 (v1.60 of bios or later). Also requires (at least it did for me) that win8.1 be installed from a USB drive in order for the proper UEFI layer to load. I was unsuccessful trying to get win8.1 pro to load from DVD, copied to bootable USB and worked first try. Bios options are awesome. Used the "easy overclock" feature to take my i7-4790k from stock 4.0ghz to 4.5ghz without issue. Also running ram at 2400mhz and it is very very fast, dramatic measurable improvement over stock 1333mhz rate. I cannot think of one way to improve this motherboard.

Cons: none

Very quiet, high-output power supply, clean cable setup.

EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P2 220-P2-1000-XR 80+ PLATINUM 1000W Fully Modular EVGA ECO Mode Includes FREE Power On Self Tester Power Supply

Pros: Very thoughtful design. Ultra quiet. Modular cables, only use what you need. The power supply changes the fan speed as required, supposedly even running with 0-rpm (off) when not needed (passive cooling). I have not witnessed this but I have not put my hand behind the case often to check either. This is a pretty big power supply, make sure your case can fit it.

Cons: Pretty large, make sure you check the dimensions.
