Verified and working with 9343

Dell XPS 13 9343 OEM Laptop Battery 7.4V 52Wh JD25G 0N7T6 0DRRP RWT1R
Dell XPS 13 9343 OEM Laptop Battery 7.4V 52Wh JD25G 0N7T6 0DRRP RWT1R

Pros: -Factory original replacement -Easy to swap/install -No more bulging keyboard!!!

Cons: -Very hard to find an exact replacement -Be careful with flea power

Overall Review: Just don't even bother with the Bezos website or other battery retailers promising compatible replacements - they won't work. Dell BIOSes are notorious for rejecting non-factory batteries to the point where you power it back on and the replacement battery either will refuse to charge, or Windows will show the battery missing notification. I had exactly the same thing happen with this one - no battery installed notification along with the amber led blinking. Solution was to carefully unplug the new battery from the connector and wait a good 10 minutes, holding down the power button for at least 30 seconds before and after. It was only after doing this that the notebook would recognize the battery properly and charge it. Two thumbs up for Newegg and GlobaleParts for stocking this item - you guys just rescued my laptop!!! Thumbs down for Dell refusing to sell original factory replacement parts direct to the public. It's a battery. I can change it.

You get cut at the bleeding edge

G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 128GB (8 x 16GB) DDR4 2800 (PC4 22400) Extreme Performance Memory Model F4-2800C15Q2-128GRKD
G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 128GB (8 x 16GB) DDR4 2800 (PC4 22400) Extreme Performance Memory Model F4-2800C15Q2-128GRKD

Pros: Huge capacity for running a RAMDISK, or multitasking memory-hungry software. 2800 speed. Black heatsinks. Cooling fans included.

Cons: Crazy expensive. Requires a CPU with a strong memory controller to run at XMP speeds. Was only able to get mine running stable at 2546. Needs 1.35V instead of 1.2V.

Overall Review: Memtest threw errors on my set so had to RMA - minus 1 egg for defective kit. Minus another egg too for the insane price. Tested on R5E with latest BIOS 1502 5960X Win 7 x64.

Audiophile failure

Microsoft - 32GB Zune HD (PLATINUM)
Microsoft - 32GB Zune HD (PLATINUM)

Pros: Size, weight, interface, physical design, brilliant screen, exceptional video playback

Cons: Where's the manual? What equalizer? No bluetooth. No case.

Overall Review: I'm a hard-core audiophile, and as such, I must knock two eggs off the ZuneHD for the lack of a functioning equalizer. You cannot aim a device at the serious audio listener and NOT include options for sound shaping. I would also like to stream music wirelessly to my car's head unit, and at this price, I feel bluetooth should be standard. Operation is straight-forward, but an online manual with screen shots would be good to see the device's true details. Despite all the other tricks the ZuneHD can do, lack of an EQ is a total deal-breaker for me. When you factor in the price of the player and a pair of high-end headphones, I expect Hi-Fi quality sound, not a flat EQ curve. Now if Microsoft were to include a customizable 7-band EQ with presets, this would be the audiophile's dream music player.

Expensive Junk

X-Plane 9.0 PC Game
X-Plane 9.0 PC Game

Pros: Updated scenery, a few new planes added and better details than previous versions. That's really all I can say concerning the more serious faults this software has.

Cons: The software won't install under XP under any circumstances. Even the demo would not install. On my Vista machine, the game got up and running, but the updater could not download the latest version/patch. This wasn't a problem when you could manually download exe updates and install on top of the game, but that option is no longer supported. Of course the included manual offers no help whatsoever. An even more serious glitch was that the numlock keys were disabled in the sim, making keyboard control of the planes - and effective use of the sim - totally impossible. Did I mention this is bug-ridden software with zero support? Read my other thoughts below.

Overall Review: I've been using X-Plane since version 5 back in 2001 and have been highly critical of this software for it's authenticity, accuracy and precision control. My last purchase was version 8.16 which had worked so well I got this with the 60GB scenery pack hoping it would up the ante. Sad to say, this product, along with graphsim and my opinion of Austin Meyer, have gone down the toilet big-time. My support emails to graphsim and x-plane.com regarding the "cons" above went unanswered for weeks. Eventually out of frustration I emailed Austin Meyer himself, only to receive an extremely obnoxious, arrogant, and uncooperative response from him. This is a guy who looks down upon Windows users as second-class human beings and evidently has problems facing the truth. He actually blames Microsoft for his software not running on Windows and recommended that I "phone them" for help with his simulator. What a cheap fraud! This was the last time I ever deal with X-Plane.

Best Value SLI notebook period!!!

TOSHIBA Laptop Satellite Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 3GB Memory 400GB HDD NVIDIA SLI Dual GeForce 8600M GT 17.0" Windows Vista Ultimate X205-SLi6
TOSHIBA Laptop Satellite Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 3GB Memory 400GB HDD NVIDIA SLI Dual GeForce 8600M GT 17.0" Windows Vista Ultimate X205-SLi6

Pros: SLI GPU, Penryn CPU, full keyboard with numpad, powerful 4 speakers with subwoofer, sharp bright screen, stereo line-in, HDMI, six (6) USB ports, fingerprint reader, quality finish on lid, runs Vista no sweat, fast hard drives. Hybrid TV tuner included. This really is the best value SLI notebook you can buy today.

Cons: Doesn't have dual 8800M GTX. No Blu-ray drive. Wish it had WUXGA display. Way too much crapware loaded. Battery life. Heat will exit both sides, instead of along the rear. Volume dial is in a bad spot. Can find better prices elsewhere if you search. Despite these small cons, I still give it 5 eggs because of VALUE FOR MONEY.

Overall Review: I don't actually own this unit, but I have used one for a short period of time for evaluation. For an SLI notebook, you cannot beat this for value compared to a Dell 1730 SLI at twice the price or Clevo D900 at 3 times the price. It will play Crysis well on relaxed settings, and older games like Doom 3 and Far Cry look amazing at 1680x1050 with all the eye candy turned up. Runs GTR2, Half-Life 2, F.E.A.R., X-Plane 8.60, BF2 all very nicely. For gamers, this is a really nice laptop to have, but if you don't play games, or need WUXGA/Blu-ray, look elsewhere. Interestingly, if you install a Blu-ray combo drive in this notebook ($350), you can use the HDMI port to connect with a 1080p TV and watch HD movies.

Bullet-proof!!!

BUFFALO DriveStation 500GB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive HD-HC500U2
BUFFALO DriveStation 500GB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive HD-HC500U2

Pros: Large capacity, easy to use, fast, simple to connect, reliable, SILENT and COOL. Must-have item for a laptop with a "full" drive. Complements HTPC nicely.

Cons: Wish it had 1TB drive inside. The supplied 12 inch USB cable is a joke. Had to buy mine elsewhere because NewEgg didn't offer $40 mail-in-rebate!!!

Overall Review: I use mine with my laptop. The drive powers down whenever I hit hibernate or stand-by, no need to install the supplied software. Got mine for less from the F place thanks to MIR. Will definitely buy this drive again. My previous "no-name" enclosure killed a working hard drive.
