Good bargain!

Rosewill RCP-511F 400W DC To AC Power Inverter
Rosewill RCP-511F 400W DC To AC Power Inverter

Pros: Two outlets, 400W, includes plug and clip cables, spare fuse, clean power, replaceable 12V cables with screw posts. Fairly compact size for a unit with this power rating. Very little EFI noise when using it to power a PC to play audio through the car's stereo. I ran a full-size desktop PC and LCD monitor with this, no problems. And it's inexpensive.

Cons: It's fan is noisy (not unbearable), battery clips shouldn't be used when the car is moving, which makes it a 150W inverter if you're driving, unless you hard wire it into the distribution block.

Overall Review: Be warned, even though this unit does 400W, and has a 40A fuse, most car lighter plugs have a 15A fuse, so you'll have to rewire the power source if you want 400W while the car is driving.

Not impressed at all.

Linkworld 617-C.88-P4 Gray/Beige Steel Micro ATX Mini Tower Computer Case 400W Power Supply
Linkworld 617-C.88-P4 Gray/Beige Steel Micro ATX Mini Tower Computer Case 400W Power Supply

Pros: It's cheap, it's small, and it fits full-height PCI cards and full-size (but short) CD-Roms. It doesn't look bad from a distance. The removable HD rack is sort of nice... sort of. This would make a decent computer case for an extremely low-power system.

Cons: The PSU fan died after a month, and because of its odd size, was difficult to replace. The whole PSU died a few months after that. A standard Micro-ATX PSU will fit, but you have to re-drill screw holes. The side panel uses M3 screws... I re-tapped them to 6-32 so they'd actually stay in. The metal is so thin, none of the screws are very secure. The fans are 60mm, not 80mm like the description says. Cooling is horrible, the fans are noisy, the front audio ports are missing. The HD gets ZERO airflow unless you remove the floppy cover and put a fan in it. The internal design is poor, nothing is tooless, the fan grilles are restrictive... for the price, I was expecting at least 18 gauge steel!

Overall Review: I bought the black and silver version of this case over a year ago. After putting in a new PSU and several hours of work "fixing" it, it's still just a mediocre case at best, and I wound up spending as much as if I had bought something nicer to begin with. Please buy something you won't have to "fix" right out of the box.

6 years, still going

Rosewill RD400S, 80 PLUS Certified 400 W Power Supply
Rosewill RD400S, 80 PLUS Certified 400 W Power Supply

Pros: I've killed plenty of cheap power supplies over the last 20 years, didn't expect a $40 PSU to last, honestly. 6 years later, this one is still going. Looks good, works great (as long as you don't overload it) and very quiet.

Cons: The cables are very plentiful and long, so took some cramming to get it into a small MATX case. No complaints otherwise.

Overall Review: Hard to think of a reason you couldn't use this for a low-power PC.

Zalman: the Standard

ZALMAN VF770 2 Ball-Bearing VGA Cooler
ZALMAN VF770 2 Ball-Bearing VGA Cooler

Pros: Quiet, pretty, efficient.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: From the people who invented the "flower" style heatsinks... still the best. Got this running on a cheap ATI card, works perfectly, doesn't interfere with anything. Quiet, efficient, etc.

Not perfect, but good

EnGenius EAP150 Business-class High-Power Wireless-N AP and WDS Bridge/AP w/ Smoke Dector Housing & PoE
EnGenius EAP150 Business-class High-Power Wireless-N AP and WDS Bridge/AP w/ Smoke Dector Housing & PoE

Pros: Lots of options, great Tx power, simple and efficient.

Cons: Not bulletproof, I still have to reboot it about once a week. But it's so much better than those junk all-in-one router/modem/AP combo things. May not be stout enough for corporate installs, but more than good enough for home/soho use.

Overall Review: Aaaah... I have wireless across the whole house again! And the back yard. And the front yard. And the workshop. And...

Great little box

OEM Production 2550L2D-MxPC Intel NM10 Black Mini / Booksize Barebone System
OEM Production 2550L2D-MxPC Intel NM10 Black Mini / Booksize Barebone System

Pros: Cheap, small, low-power, dual NICs, dual-core with HT, works out of the box.

Cons: Not silent, Bios is slim, can't use the pci-e slot on the mobo.

Overall Review: I put 3G of ram and an old laptop drive in this, installed Untangle and called it a day. Took 30 minutes to set up, and has been running without a glitch ever since. I would not hesitate to build a media PC out of this, the HDMI works great under Linux, everything just works.
