No output for optical cable.

Microsoft Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable
Microsoft Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable

Pros: I got this official Microsoft VGA cable to replace an older one that has recently started to periodically lose the signal. Even though the design has changed it still performs extremely well. I used it to connect my 360 to my 720p Acer projector or a 22" monitor for lan parties. While it's not a digital HD cable, it still gives you the most amazing picture you can get on your 360 without using HDMI.

Cons: Only con here is that this newer model VGA cable doesn't include the optical output for Dolby digital surround sound systems. I have no idea why MS decided to remove this feature. This is a huge disappointment to me, as I use VGA and the optical cable to connect my 360 and free up HDMI ports for my other media devices. It's only my opinion, but the quality of the images when using a HDMI cable aren't massively better than VGA. HDMI looks a little sharper with darker blacks and richer colors, but you can adjust these in display settings for most games. With that said, I prefer to use VGA for gaming and save the HDMI port for HD programs or Bluray.

Overall Review: Aside from the single con listed above this is still a good buy for the price. I've had my previous official 360 VGA cable since 2006 and it still works. I just gotta move the cable around a bit. In terms of overall quality this product is great, but the original is still better. It's shame MS took away the optical output on this cable and still charge this much. Well at least I'll have a spare if/when the first one gives out.

ACER H5360 720P 1280x720 2500 ANSI Lumens NVIDIA 3D Vision Ready Home Theater DLP Projector
ACER H5360 720P 1280x720 2500 ANSI Lumens NVIDIA 3D Vision Ready Home Theater DLP Projector

Pros: Awesome picture for 720p. Well over 2000 hours of use and the lamp is still going strong.

Cons: It only lasted about 1 year and a month before it began to malfunction. I noticed recently the projector began displaying those white spots which are said to be dead pixels. Based on what I've read online this is due to a malfunctioning dlp chip. This appears to be a common problem with this series of projectors.

Overall Review: Worse case of buyers remorse ever. Spending $500 and getting only a year of use. It looks like many other customers are having the same problem. I'm hoping Acer will extend their warranty to cover the extra month. If not, then I'll see how much it cost for repairs. It's unfortunate news for me because this projector was an awesome solution to my problem of not having enough room for a big screen tv.

A Beautiful Disaster.

HTC Surround Gray 3G Unlocked Cell Phone w/ Window Phone 7 / Wi-Fi / GPS / 3.8" Touchscreen / 5.0 MP Camera
HTC Surround Gray 3G Unlocked Cell Phone w/ Window Phone 7 / Wi-Fi / GPS / 3.8" Touchscreen / 5.0 MP Camera

Pros: Impressive specs. Camera takes descent pictures, the screen is bright and has great color. Windows phone 7 interface is well designed and easy to use. The slide out surround speaker provides some of the clearest sound available on a mobile device. Zune software is easy to use and is great at helping to organize music & video libraries.

Cons: Too many to list, but here are the most annoying ones. Phone may be unlocked but some features only work on the AT&T network. No bluetooth file transfer, no expandable storage, limited app market, can only transfer files from pc with zune software, and can't download files directly to phone because there's no built in file manager. The whole design is similar to iPhone and imo that's not a good thing.

Overall Review: The device functions well when browsing the web, messaging, checking email, listening to music and viewing pictures or video. Beyond these basic functions WP7 is a huge step backwards from the WM 6.5 OS. It's completely mystifying why MS decided to go with such a closed OS. If their goal was to imitate a popular competitor they should have chosen Android instead of iPhone, as it's open nature is rapidly taking marketshare away from closed mobile operating systems like iOS and WP7. Hopefully MS will fix these problems with their next update. Until then the only way around these limitations is to void the warranty and jailbreak the device.

Old school awesome!

DeathSmiles Xbox 360 Game
DeathSmiles Xbox 360 Game

Pros: An excellent port of an original arcade title from Japan with a few extra options and gameplay modes. The game plays like many of the old school arcade shooters from decades past. You select your character and face off against waves of enemies throughout the stage until you reach the boss. The stages are fairly short but have adjustable difficulty for those looking for an extra challenge. There's also an online mode that supports 2 players.

Cons: This is one of those niche titles that may not be for everyone. The old school shooter mechanic and difficulty will turn off many gamers raised on Call of Duty & Madden. The graphics are decent for an older arcade title but the games console release could have used some extra polish. It's an arcade title so the game is over fairly quickly. Since the price is about the same as an xbla game it's not that much of a con.

Overall Review: Hard to believe that this game was $60 at one point. But at the current price it's a steal. The look of the game is similar to classic NES titles like Ghosts n Goblins or Castlevania with a heavy dose of side scrolling shooter, of course. Games like these are a rare find these days. With arcades in the U.S. gone forever it's nice to see these types of titles are still around for gamers to enjoy.

Old habits die hard.

Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds Xbox 360 Game
Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds Xbox 360 Game

Pros: Good graphics, large character roster, fun gameplay and great price on Newegg.

Cons: Do you even have to ask? Capcom has already announced they will release a retail only update of this game called Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. This updated version will include new characters, extra outfits & new game modes. You can just about guarantee most players online will abandon this game once the new one is released, as was the case with first version of Street Fighter 4.

Overall Review: Here we go again, ... again. I learned a long time ago to never buy any Capcom game when it is first released, they will always release a better version at a reduced price within the same year.

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Collection Xbox 360 Game
Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Collection Xbox 360 Game

Pros: RDR: Undead Nightmare is a great expansion to Rockstar's fantastic game. I was amazed that it does not require you to own the first game in order to play. I have yet to finish this one but so far it seems there is almost as much content here as there was in the original. So if you loved the original you should definitely check this out. The game's story, characters & gameplay are surprisingly strong too.

Cons: A few minor glitches along with the somewhat clunky and unresponsive controls when using melee attacks. This problem becomes apparent when you run low on ammo. Then you must use your torch as a melee weapon to burn undead enemies. A lot of these enemies are quite agile and the melee targeting system takes way too long. Many of the more agile enemies will have moved well out of melee range by the time you target them and launch your attacks. This also sucks when you get swarmed by slower enemies because their attacks constantly interrupt yours, even if you attack first!

Overall Review: This game is one of those increasingly rare expansions that is truly worth the price. Rockstar Games has raised the bar for expanding single player content. Most game developers have given up on releasing anything other than overpriced multiplayer maps and minor dlc for online gaming. That is what makes R* stand out from the crowd. Gotta love their sense of humor too. Where else will you see John Marston fighting zombies, riding unicorns, and hunting undead goats?
