Low Expectations Keeps You Happy
Pros: Since I'd read the other reviews I was ready for them to work the way they did. Currently installed on ASUS M4N68T-M-V2 motherboard with Phenom X4 955 processor. The best performance I'm getting is 535.8 Mhz with 7-7-7-19-26-1T timings.
Cons: At 800 Mhz the best possible timings available with this system are 11-11-11-30-41-1T.
Overall Review: The price dropped $8 between when I ordered and they arrived. It took 1 day to go through UPS Mail Innovations, 1 day to go from NJ to OH, 1 more day to get to my local post office, and then sat 1 mile from my house for 4 days until it hit the scheduled delivery date. A simple first class envelope dropped in the mail in NJ would have arrived on day 3.
Needed this to replace the previous one that crumbled from old age
Pros: I plugged it in, and it instantly worked with the software and profiles I already had installed for the TrackIR4.
Cons: I've had a TrackIR4 for years, then one day, without even being touched, the base simple crumbled into pieces. I didn't really need the higher resolution, but the only readily available replacement was the newer and more expensive TrackIR5. The base has been redesigned, but appears to be made from the same materials that degraded over time with the previous model.
Overall Review: I've successfully used the Track IR system for 15 years now, and find it indispensable for situational awareness in combat flight sims. I can't imagine what I'll do if this product ever stops being available to replace the next unexpected failure I might experience.
Great, But Not Perfect
Pros: I've had my Track IR for over a year, and I thought that was a quantum leap in the experience it provided. My expectation was that adding the TH2Go would just be an incremental improvement, but it turned out to be just as significant as the Track IR was. Where Track IR changes your level of situational awareness (assuming you bother to look around frequently), the TH2Go makes a big difference in the feeling of "being there". By giving you more peripheral vision the TH2Go provides a que to turn your head with the Track IR for a better look when somthing moves that shouldn't be there. This is how simulations were meant to be experienced.
Cons: I have a dual boot system. The desktop management software works fine with Vista - SP1 but doesn't work with my XP - SP3. I spent a couple of weeks going back and forth with Matrox, but in the end, no joy.
Overall Review: You're limited to just 60hz at the maximum 3840 x 1024 Works best with 3 standard format 19" LCD monitors that are inexpensive, but increasingly hard to replace if they go bad. Needs a good bit of desktop space. I have the two wing monitors set at 30 degree angles, and the bezels are overlapped to minimize the gap between screens.
