Exactly what I wanted

Pros: Works out-of-the-box with various Linux distros using 4.x kernel (currently Debian Stable) Works well with mdadm Simple settings Works well/reliably/as advertised
Cons: Slows boot time considerably (kind of a "pro", since having all of the drives spin up prior to boot has been beneficial for me) Connections can come a bit loose with time under some pressure, but in a non-moving environment isn't much of an issue
Overall Review: Running under Debian Stable since '16. Since 9, no drivers needed. mdadm has worked well through this card for 8 x 8TB SAS drives.
Works

Pros: Works as advertised/expected
Cons: None
