Great budget card

EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 Video Card 01G-P4-3650-KR
EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 Video Card 01G-P4-3650-KR

Pros: Low Power, some heat get exhausted out the back, short card length, overclocks well, good performance chops especially for the price.

Cons: A touch loud at 40% or higher, but even running FAH the fan never got above 30%. No Display port (I would rather have a DP, HDMI, & DVI than current arrangement) The Assassin's Creed III coupon is impossible to redeem! The website won't let you put it in your cart & when I finally "order" it, the download button isn't available to download it.

Overall Review: I used this to replace a 512MB Geforce GTS250. Help me strech out another year with this computer. This card uses 30 watts less(!) at idle, and about 40 watts less under load, yet both cards are rated near the same TDP. The GTS250 put out some heat while gaming, the fan doesn't even speed up on this card and I can't even feel any heat out of the card whule running FAH. Overclocked effortlessly with the EVGA Precision X app to the "Superclocked" version's 1071MHz. Memory overclocked over 105MHz faster as well. Haven't pushed it farther but considering the memory chips are running much slower than they are rated for and has air blowing directly on them, shouldn't be any trouble to go farther. Why spend more money on the superclocked version when this overclocks so easily? Why spend money on the 2GB version when the GPU isn't fast enough to fill the extra RAM? Save some money and buy this 650Ti and never look back.

Most Critical Review

Good concept, flawed execution

Thermaltake Notebook Cooler R14PF01
Thermaltake Notebook Cooler R14PF01

Pros: Lightweight, USB powered, quiet, well designed ventilation path. On/off button.

Cons: Hollow plastic makes it feel flimsy - Fan intake is flush on the bottom, place it on a blanket or flat surface without folding the legs down and it doesn't move any air.

Overall Review: Best design I have seen in a notebook cooler powered by USB. Air flow is very good (blows up, not down), but you must keep the bottom of the cooler slightly elevated. Blue light doesn't do anything for me, positive or negative.

Failed 3 times

Seagate Hybrid Drive ST2000DX001 2TB MLC/8GB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s NCQ 3.5" Desktop SSHD
Seagate Hybrid Drive ST2000DX001 2TB MLC/8GB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s NCQ 3.5" Desktop SSHD

Pros: Relatively fast, quiet

Cons: Very unreliable. On my 3rd drive that is also failing.

Overall Review: I've had this drive for 7 months and it has failed 3 times in that window. Every time I get drive read errors, it drops connection to the mobo, and the mobo can no longer see the drive. Unplug from power for a minute, plug back in, and it works! Until I get read errors again. I suggest avoiding this drive. It's not ready for prime time yet. Too bad, as the notebook SSHDs seem to be reliable. The desktop ones aren't.

HTPC Card

GIGABYTE Silent Series Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 Video Card GV-R545SC-1GI
GIGABYTE Silent Series Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 Video Card GV-R545SC-1GI

Pros: Well designed and passively cooled, low temps, low power use, bitstream audio through HDMI, bluray decoding, DDR3 memory

Cons: Doesn't have enough horsepower to enable all the video enhancements at once. Still 64-bit memory interface. Driver issues caused me some pain.

Overall Review: I bought this card purely for HTPC duty and bluray decoding. Fits the bill very nicely, keeps the computer cool and quiet watching blurays. Card would have easily gotten 5 eggs had it not been for some driver pain. For those with driver issues, make sure to update to the newest ones on ATI's site. I had different issues with this card on the last 6 driver revisions, but 11.2 seems to get everything right (finally!). One revision would reset the overscan every reboot, another would lockup for a minute after playing an MPEG4 stream for more than 15 minutes, another the audio would stop after a day, etc.

Fast drive, no sleep

OCZ Vertex 2 2.5" 55GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G
OCZ Vertex 2 2.5" 55GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G

Pros: Fast drive! Performs like a champ.

Cons: Firmware updates in Windows causes a BSOD and needs a power cycle to se the drive again. My notebook BSODs waking from sleep every time. Went on the OCZ board and lots of people are having the same issues. So far I have been told it is a know issue and it MAY be resolved in a future firmware update. But OCZ says it can reproduce the errors, so who knows when and if I'll get a fix.

Overall Review: Wish I would have contacted support sooner so I could have returned it before I sent the rebate in. Now I have a notebook for school that can't sleep, so I have to startup and shutdown between every class. Stupid.

Terrible

HP Deskjet D2680 CH396A Up to 28 ppm Black Print Speed 4800 x 1200 dpi Color Print Quality InkJet Personal Color Printer
HP Deskjet D2680 CH396A Up to 28 ppm Black Print Speed 4800 x 1200 dpi Color Print Quality InkJet Personal Color Printer

Pros: It is small and light.

Cons: Had problems right out the bat and never worked correctly. Continued to say that paper was empty when it was not. Then completely died. HP only has a 90 day warranty on hardware, and told me their was nothing they could do for me. They only tried to sell me a new printer. So very dissatisfied.

Overall Review: Bought as a basic printer for light use, and it failed on all accounts. Sad. Wasted money. HP printers used to be reliable, but this is not one of them.
