Bent Socket Pins and Random Shutdowns on 2 Different Boards

ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA 1366 Intel X58 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA 1366 Intel X58 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: This motherboard has great features for its price: x2 6GB sata ports, SLi/Crossfire support, and enough RAM slots to add more memory as needed. I was confident that this motherboard had everything I wanted, so I got another one from Newegg for my girlfriend to build a computer.

Cons: I've had my motherboard for 3-4 months now and at random points my computer will shut off. I've swapped out all of the hardware and had the same results. While the issues with my motherboard haven't bothered me enough to RMA it, I've been very disappointed with the one I bought for my girlfriend. Just like many of the other reviewers, we soon realized that we received the board with bent CPU socket pins, causing it to not recognize all of the RAM. Since this is physical damage, I've been told that I can't return it to Newegg. I also contacted ASUS, waited a week for a response, and was told I'd have to pay $120 for repairs...for which I don't understand why I wouldn't just spend a little more and buy a motherboard from another manufacturer.

Overall Review: This has been my first experience personally dealing with faulty hardware and I've been very disappointed. I'm a computer technician and have been recommending ASUS as a quality brand - something I don't feel comfortable doing anymore. Think twice about this one. Problems on two separate motherboards is not a fluke.
