Best little $39 burner out there
Pros: Super easy install (took less than 5 minutes). Worked right out of the box (or should I say bag, as it is OEM). Exactly as advertised. I even got a free 5-pack of DL DVD's from Newegg. OK, so they were cheap 2.4x Ridata, but they worked flawlessly on the first try! Perfect burn with the DL. I haven't tried any of the other formats yet (I expect to mainly be using the DL media - I'll be upgrading to the Verbatim DVD+DL 8x), but I'm sure they'll be fine, as NEC and Newegg rule! If you are even thinking of finally taking the DVD-burning plunge, or upgrading to DL, don't hesitate on this sweet deal!
Cons: None, unless you need screws or the audio cable, as this is just the bare drive. But don't we all have spare parts laying around??? It also has no software, but again, that's no show-stopper.
Overall Review: I've seen a few reviews regarding updating the firmware and no support from NEC. However, when I went to NEC's website, they did have a firmware upgrade for this burner (http://support.necsam.com/optical/downloads/flashfirmware/). However, the firmware that came with my burner was the latest, so I didn't have to update it. Like I said earlier, I have experienced no problems yet.
Works Fine
Pros: Works. Compatible with Dell Desktop E310
Cons: None
Good Monitor, 1 stuck pixel
Pros: Price, DVI, widesceen, 4ms response, HDCP compliant for future HD compatability.
Cons: 1 stuck pixel.
Overall Review: Tried getting rid of the stuck pixel with various methods to no avail. Didn't want to return with no promises of getting one without one or more stuck/dead pixels. Maximum resolution and contrast ratio could be better, but didn't want to pay that much extra for it.
