Pros: Went from a poor signal using a USB Wireless Adapter to a good signal Using this directional antenna adapter.
Cons: Kind of large in size to travel with and dish part can be fragile.
Overall Review: Been trying to increase my signal strength to no avail using 802.11g and n. But once I hooked this up right away it jumped to good.
Pros: Nice features like DNLA ready and does work fast when up. 5GHz works great and stable.
Cons: 2.4GHz drops devices frequently. I have to reboot this router usually about every day. Sometimes it will go 3 days running smooth. When I stream music it consistently drops out and picks up. Some devices will drop out Internet but remain on local network with limited access. Spent many many hours with tech and online forums but no resolution. RMA-ing and going with ASUS RT-N66U hopefully it will be my saving grace.
Computer feels young again
Pros: Incredible speed. I was really suffering with an older NVIDIA graphic card with only 48 CUDA cores and 1GB memory. It met the minimum requirements for COD Ghost but I struggled to perform well in a multiplayer mode or squads. It would run smooth until action starts then sound and video would stutter and hesitate. This made it extremely difficult to shoot players as you are always playing catch up. Accuracy was horrible. I didn't know if it was my processor or video because both are near minimum requirements. I figured it was video so I purchased this GTX 760 4GB with 1152 CUDA cores and wow, immediate difference and all problems resolved. Sound is smooth and no more video stuttering or hesitating. Computer feels brand new again. I was struggling to get 1 or 2 kills in multiplayer, always at the bottom of the list. I thought these people must be cheating how can they see me, I couldn't see them. But after installing the new card and playing the detail is so much better and I feel as if I have the advantage being able to see them so well and able to place accurate shots. Now I am always near the top of the list after the round.
Cons: Fan noise. I guess with great power comes great responsibility to keep this card cool. Does it really need to run that fast at idle? I can understand when gaming but when the computer has been idle for 30 minutes It still runs and I have not discovered a way to have it shut off completely.
Bad Parental Controls
Pros: lots of features Easy installation Fast
Cons: Keep in mind if you want to split up your devices by taking advantage of dual bands, only devices that are compatible on 5GHz can move to it. Most devices ie: iphone, droid device, some most low end internet tvs are only 802.11b and g, good for 2.4GHz not 5. I used parental controls on my previous Linksys router which worked great; however, this router parental control features are pretty much worthless. It only works with mac and pc window devices. Any non window device such as iphone, ipad, droid it will either block or leave wide open, nothing in-between. Also the Parental control requires the installation of their Management Utility software installed on one computer and their User Utility program installed on all computers so you can bypass or create time zones for when the devices can access or block sites. After talking with Netgear's horrible and I mean horrible support, I was told there is NO App for the user utility for my droid, ipad, itouch devices.
Overall Review: Parental control had no day of week function either its just time of day only. So if you want different restrictions on weekend, it can't be done.
