Great for a medium sized room
Pros: Got it for my master bedroom to pair with an HT-50 5.0 set I got on sale at a brick and mortar. Almost perfect match. Audyssey sets EQ at -15 and it's still kinda loud! I had to set gain knob at a little less than the 3rd mark from zero and low pass at 100 Hz to balance it out.
Cons: No cons
Overall Review: For the price you can't really beat it. I tried it in a large room and it doesn't do horribly but I would keep it in a small or medium sized room. Apartment dwellers might get complaints! Only negative thing I have is if I would have waited a little longer I could've gotten the Klipsch 12 inch 400 watt sub for not very much more.
Wanted an 8 core but this does the trick!
Pros: Shopping around for a new HP since I WAS fanboy, not anymore!!! Boots fast and runs sturdy. Armoury Crate was cool once you learn how to use it if you have TUF or ROG gear. MyASUS simplified warranty, register, and all that other dull stuff.
Cons: Not a con but I'm used to dual monitors and 1080p @60hz was fine with me. Now that I have seen a display @144hz looks like im going to have to get new monitors!!! Also 8gb of ram gets you up and running but upgrading ram to at least 16gb seems to make it flow smoother.
Overall Review: I don't do gaming more for productivity, editing and daily grind stuff so I cant comment on that spectrum of it. GET A LAPTOP COOLER your going to need it!!!
Pros: after almost a year since my 1st review (n/a 5/20/09 7:57 am "works fine", yeah i know i forgot to put in nickname) and upgrage to win 7 x64 i thought i would take a peek back and see whats going on. Still kicking and not having a single problem, well 1 problem but its not 1850 or Bill's fault. (see cons)
Cons: it seems the reason i can only get a 1/4 the QAM Comcast offers in my area is because the cable that runs to my house is almost 30+ yrs old. When I asked can they be replaced, I got a very strange look from the Tech they sent. Cant fault Bill or Hauppauge for that so Comcast can kiss me........ Seems since my upgrage to win7 x64 the channels changing got a lil slower, but I have to go with what i said earlier, if your not willing to wait another 1/2 sec then your standards are too high.
Overall Review: tried using the av slots to record gaming with wintv, but that was a serious waste of time. Just bought an HDMI capture card and solved that problem instantly. For those whom even think of trying to use Wintv, you need to stop and just use Media Center for your recording and so forth, or try another way to move those VHS tapes of Aunt Vicky and the Kids running around the park to the computer, cause wintv just is not going to cut it. I found using free apps like fraps and other screen capture utilities that use the wintv structure worked a lil better but I would try using a dedicated PVR card for that purpose as this card was built as a tv tuner being its 1st purpose. It will work using wintv but its a headache. & also dont use the disc that comes with it always download the newest drivers from the maker, you would figure ppl would know that by now!
still going strong
Pros: 16:10, 5ms, no dead pix, I am happy
Cons: none that I can think of, but it does look kinda grainy after watching media center on my other monitor which is an ACER H233H but thats 1080P. As another reviewer stated when you have seen a better quality screen you kinda notice, but for the price and size you cant beat it.
Overall Review: I dont know why ppl keep complaining about the stand, mine doesnt wobble, do you bang on your keyboard like a gorilla or something!
Pros: had it for a month, work fine with cable and ota, right out of the box. Media center does what i needed to do, now i dont have to rush home to watch the Deadliest Catch. Tivo's future isnt looking so bright is it!!! Finally found some use after all this for that PCI Express slot x1!
Cons: Kind of slow changing channels, but not that bad. If your an impatient person and cant wait a sec for the channel to change you might want check your standards before buying. I tried the QAM with the regisrty hack for media center but I only got 1/4 of the channels that Comcast has listed for my area. It does what i need it to do so I cant really complain but i would like to have those channels since this is supposed to be a QAM tuner and I am paying for Comcast service! I cant really blame Hauppauge for this its Bill's fault, but MS is not going to do anything about it for people whom self installed and didnt buy it with a prebuilt computer so it boggles my mind with the runaround to fix/patch this problem! I'll get off my soapbox now!
Overall Review: Kinda close to my HD 4850, very close, I think they like each other!!! I swapped the 80mm fan on my rear exhaust to a 120mm just in case.
