SAMSUNG HD502HI 500GB 5400 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
SAMSUNG HD502HI 500GB 5400 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Only one platter and 5400rpm, stays cool, has impressive performance for 5400rpm, almost no vibration, good price

Cons: Compared to current 7200rpm disks this thing is slow.

Overall Review: If you are looking for a harddisk that cannot be heard inside a good quality case this is the number one choice. For example for a PC in a bedroom or living room.

OKGEAR AAM1 All Althorn Absorption Wads
OKGEAR AAM1 All Althorn Absorption Wads

Pros: Easy to use, sticks like hell

Cons: I used a lot of mats for other computers and these are bad. For the price probably okay, but if you want to have real effect, you should look for mats that have heavy back layers.

Overall Review: If you plan to remove them one day you might want to put them on carpet first to have some fibers on it. The fibers should make it possible to remove the mats. Without this removing the mats will take hours. As I wrote, they stick like hell.

Buyer beware

HP Laptop Pavilion AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 2GB Memory 250GB HDD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3410 12.1" Windows Vista Home Premium dv2-1110us
HP Laptop Pavilion AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 2GB Memory 250GB HDD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3410 12.1" Windows Vista Home Premium dv2-1110us

Pros: - great screen - great keyboard, very soft hub and exact feel - very good gaming performance if you take size and price into consideration. There is nothing on the market that is in the same price range and performance. - decent battery life with just under 4 hrs. - quite light - very good audio out and very decent speakers for a laptop - very sturdy and good built quality (which is usually not the case with HP) - easy swapable RAM and HDD through bottom cover - external drive easy to use, plays DVDs flawlessly - way more power than any Intel Atom on the market

Cons: - only one RAM slot (upgrade to 4GB is VERY expensive) - noisy. Fan is always running and gets quite loud even from a distance. - gets VERY hot. I had the dual core version but I guess the singlecore is similar, maybe a bit better. This is not a "lap"-top. At least I did not want to place it there for more than a couple of minutes. - TONS of bloatware. No install media for Windows. Had to burn my own recovery DVDs. Took me 2 hours to remove all that trial ware, shareware and useless additional software and links.

Overall Review: I bought it directly from manufacturer. If Newegg had the dual core version I would have bought here. The whole buying process from the manufacturer was hell. Took forever just to get it on order. At least now I know around ten people from HP accounting, tech support, call center. The product is not thought through. I guess the AMD NEO is just generating too much heat. TDP is 18W I think. I returned my product after two weeks and I do not regret it.

Bad quality

Rosewill RX25-AT-SC-BLK - External Hard Drive Enclosure - Aluminum & Plastic, 2.5", Black, SATA USB 2.0 & eSATA
Rosewill RX25-AT-SC-BLK - External Hard Drive Enclosure - Aluminum & Plastic, 2.5", Black, SATA USB 2.0 & eSATA

Pros: Looks decent, Aluminum helps dissipating heat

Cons: The screwholes inside were drilld by an amateur. Or the machine was off center. Whatever it is there is no possibility to lock the HDD in the case. It is a tight fit and it should work without the screws but even for 13 Dollar shipped you can expect a little bit more quality.

Screen okay

ASUS VH226H Black 21.5" HDMI Widescreen 16:9 Full HD 1080P LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 ASCR 12000:1 (1000:1) Built in Speakers

Pros: For a TN Display not bad. Good for Office work. Very bright, nice.

Cons: Material looks pretty cheap. But no real con.

Overall Review: Asus "lost" the rebate documentation. Hmm, no rebate. I am sad.

silent

ARCTIC COOLING ALPINE 7 92mm CPU Cooler
ARCTIC COOLING ALPINE 7 92mm CPU Cooler

Pros: very quiet - if you use the PWM feature this is inaudible inside a good case. Cools low TDP CPUs such as E5x00, E7x00 sufficient.

Cons: Orientation! I have not seen a board where you can mount this to help cooling the Northbridge with the airflow from the fan. If you have a cool Northbridge this is not an issue but with my GF9300 integrated chipset reaching the 80C regions I had to replace this one.

Overall Review: I am a big fan of the pushpins. This one requires taking out your mainboard and installing a backplate. Pretty simple but takes a lot more time than the pushpin assembly. When you put the heatsink into the mainboard base make sure to unscrew the top two screws next to the fan. It will be impossible to clip the metal part if you keep the screws as they come out of the box.
