Pros: looks nice, can be mounted in any orientation (other nearby components permitting) If I'd had room I'm sure it would have worked fine.

Cons: The unit is very wide. The "heat pipes" extend out to one side making it impossible to mount without removing memory from most mother boards. Rotating the unit will result in the contact point not covering the entire processor.

Overall Review: I would not have bought this heatsink but I was constrained by height restrictions and wanted the 4 pin power connection. Shipping return costs and restocking fees make it cost prohibitive to return so I'll save it for a future system.

Pros: For a refurb it's in good shape and clean.

Cons: Power supply fan started making a loud noise. A wack on the side resolved it for now. 1 star off for that.

Cons: There are a lot of scratches and marks on both the screen and the back. It appears to have been stacked flat with other "things". The are 3 very deep scars in the screen.

Pros: HDMI Smart device/web app/connectivity/Network Functions

Cons: There are two cons. 1) Zone2, when using the RCA jacks to an external power amp, you cannot adjust the volume via the V673 unit, the web page, or the droid/iphone app. The volume level is fixed (at a fairly high level). My external Yamaha power amp driving Zone2 has the volume set to less than 1 (out of 10) to make up for the high signal level coming from the V673's ZONE2 OUT rca jacks. 2) The speaker banana plug receptacles DO NOT conform to the "Dual Tip Banana Plug" standard spacing. They are about 2-4 millimeters to far apart to use the standard "Dual Tip Banana Plug" as in http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882155738 I've used dual tip plugs on all previous Yamaha amps and receivers and many other audio/other devices. I have a Yamaha power amp that I've been using for 30 years and it has the standard spaced plugs. The Yamaha DPS1 that I'm replacing this with also has the standard spacing. Every pair of speakers I've ever bough that had banana plugs had them spaced properly. I just cannot comprehend why this new RX-V673 receiver doesn't follow the standard. Needles to say, I'm annoyed with having to replace the dual plugs with single banana plugs on all of my speaker connections at the unit. Had I know the above 2 cons I might not have bought this unit.

Overall Review: I've had Yamaha amps and receivers for thirty + years. I've never replace one because it was broken. I only replaced them to upgrade to newer technologies. In this case, HDMI primarily but also to make use of new smart device app and web connectivity. One crazy thing, the "SCENE for One-Touch Start" for the one labeled TV is configured to receive an audio signal from the TV. So the TV displays the Yamaha wallpaper and is expecting the audio from the TV???? It was easy to fix. Just like a car radio, set the TV and audio to the desired sources and settings (like the cableTV HDMI2) and then push and hold the TV button (for 3 seconds I think) and it will save the changes.

Overall Review: don't leave the cable attached when transporting it and it should be fine.
