WD My Book Essential 1TB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive WDH1U10000N
WD My Book Essential 1TB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive WDH1U10000N

Pros: Lots of space, quiet, eco friendly, runs cool, looks sexy, turns off and on with computer. I've had the 1TB for over and month and two 750GB for about 6 months and all work great! The stand by function is a pro and a con...The pros are it's eco friendly, keeps the drive cool when not in use and saves wear and tear overall (depending on how often you access the drive)

Cons: Like I said, the stand by function is also a con. It goes into standby after about 10 min. I wish you had an option to set it higher, like 30-45 min. It does take a few seconds to come out of stand by when you try to access it.

Overall Review: I've heard a lot of criticism about how the HDD drive suffers from the same amount of wear when coming out of stand by as it does if you leave it running constantly for X amount of hours. To my knowledge this is strictly a myth. If somebody can provide me with reliable evidence otherwise, I'd love to see it. The drive comes formatted in FAT32 for a reason. FAT32 is a more compatible file system. It works on newer versions of windows, older versions of windows and Mac's OS. I suggest formatting in NTFS if your OS supports it though.

Most Critical Review

Doesn't work with Vista.

Syba 5 Port USB 2.0 PCI Card - SY-NEC-5U
Syba 5 Port USB 2.0 PCI Card - SY-NEC-5U

Pros: Can't say for sure.

Cons: Doesn't work with Vista. Under the newegg.com specs it doesn't list vista, but the Manufacturer Product Page indicates that it is compatible with vista, so I bought it. When I put it in the PCI slot, vista won't even boot to the desktop. When I insert it when the PC is booted, it says found new hardware and says its installing devices, but then locks up. I've also tried installing the XP drivers then inserting it with no luck.

Overall Review: It was cheap, so I'm not going to bother sending it back. I'm hoping that it will work on XP and I can sell it to a friend who has XP.

e-SATA was DOA

Galaxy METAL GEAR Metal Gear Box II 3506SASP-Black Aluminum 3.5" SATA USB 2.0 & SATA External Enclosure
Galaxy METAL GEAR Metal Gear Box II 3506SASP-Black Aluminum 3.5" SATA USB 2.0 & SATA External Enclosure

Pros: I have three other Galaxy Metal Gear products that I love!

Cons: This particular one was junk. First, two of the eight screws broke when I was putting it together. They are either extremely cheap metal or plastic. The USB 2.0 worked, but the e-SATA didn't, which was why I bought it. Either I just got a bad egg, or Galaxy's products have gotten poor since the last time I bought one of their products.

Overall Review: I opted for a replacement, but newegg gave me a refund instead. Not sure why, but either way the RMA process went smoothly. I was using a WD drive, and read several other reviews that said WD drives wouldn't work, so I'll just use my refund to buy another brand. Given my satisfaction of Galaxy products in the past, I may buy from them again in the future, but probably not this model.

ASUS M3N78 PRO <GREEN> AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8300 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS M3N78 PRO <GREEN> AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8300 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Cheap, worked great for a while anyway..., ASUS came through with an RMA though.

Cons: Worked great for three months, then quite without warning. I was using my PC one day and it completely shut down. At first I thought it was my PSU, tested it and it wasn't. After testing other things figured out that it was the motherboard. Inspected the board and there was no visible damage. I contacted ASUS for an RMA, spent about $7 to ship it back to them, got it back a few weeks later, hooked it up and worked like new. ASUS never gave me an explanation to why the board failed though. Hopefully it won't happen again. I believe I wrote a review after I first received this board giving it 4 eggs, deducting an egg mainly for the poor placement of the 24pin connector. Now that it has failed me after only 3 months of moderate use, It's getting 2 more eggs. I would have rather had it DOA instead of quitting on me after only 3 months for no apparent reason.

Overall Review: The RMA from ASUS went smoothly. It was horrible having to use my incredibly slow outdated laptop for three weeks while I waited for the return of my motherboard.

Love it.

SanDisk Contour 8GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable) SDCZ8-8192-A75
SanDisk Contour 8GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable) SDCZ8-8192-A75

Pros: Looks sexy, 8GB storage, metal protective case, no cap to lose, cover to keep dust and lent out of USB end, cool blue light that's not too bright, leather carry pouch.

Cons: The plastic part of the case feels flimsy, glossy plastic holds fingerprints easily, a little longer and thicker than most USB drives, you can't attach a lanyard to the USB drive and the carry pouch doesn't come with one.

Overall Review: I prefer PortableApps over the preinstalled U3 application.

Good, could be better

Antec P182 Gun Metal Black 0.8mm cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Antec P182 Gun Metal Black 0.8mm cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Sturdy, lockable front cover, lots of room, holds up to 5 120mm case fans. Rubber cushions everywhere to lessen vibration noise. Sexy gunmetal finish. Having room to put cables behind the motherboard allows better airflow through the case.

Cons: The door is supposed to open 270 degrees, mine only opens 180 degrees. You have to push on the front cover slightly for the lock to latch. The case sides have plastic hooks to latch it on with instead of metal. Very poor instructions - but doesn't take a genius to figure out where things go. The guides that go on the optical drives make the drives a snap to insert and remove but also makes them feel less secure than being able to screw them into place. Only has one external 3.5" bay.

Overall Review: Make sure you have room to put this wherever you plan to put it, it's taller and wider than most cases. Make sure your PSU has cable long enough to reach. I replaced the three speed stock fans with fans that can move more air and hooked them up to a fan controller. Even running the stock fans on medium it cooled my CPU (AMD X2 6000+) by 15 C from my old case setup.
