Win 2012 Essentials

SYBA SI-PEX40062 PCI-Express 2.0 x2 Low Profile Ready SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Card
SYBA SI-PEX40062 PCI-Express 2.0 x2 Low Profile Ready SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Card

Pros: Worked in Windows 2012 Essentials right out of the box. Using on a newly built/installed Win Server 2012 Essentials with a 4-bay JBOD (iStarUSA BPN-DE340SS) and Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H motherboard. As card does not have RAID, there are no conflicts to be had with a motherboard RAID controller. Another of same card in Win7 Pro 64 with same model JBOD and GA-P67A-UD4-B3 motherboard also working well right out of the box. Not using either card for boot drive; just connected to the 4-drive JBOD in each for hot-swap storage drives.

Cons: none.

Overall Review: Would buy again.

Excellent Projector

MITSUBISHI HC5500 1920 x 1080 Full HD 1080P LCD Projector 1200 lumens 14000:1
MITSUBISHI HC5500 1920 x 1080 Full HD 1080P LCD Projector 1200 lumens 14000:1

Pros: Projector has a very bright, good contrast, super sharp, image with easy setup and is extremely quiet. Throwing 106" image from ~12.5 ft and sitting ~12 ft from screen. SDE is not visible until ~4ft. from screen. Projector noise is non-existent even though it is ~3.5 ft. our heads. Every source thrown at from DirecTV, BD, HDDVD, PS3 and Xbox360 games have looked stunning. Upscaled DVD looks quite good and well above acceptable, but does leave you wanting a hi-def source. A Wii (strait 480P source) looks like ...well... a Wii but the kids are the only ones that play it. Standard def sources are as acceptable as one would expect being sized to 106 inches. Overall all hi-def sources are stunning and standard/DVD def are totally as expected given image size; zero complaints.

Cons: The economy lamp mode dims the image a bit much in my opinion (even in a very light controlled room) therefore I will probably not be seeing the 5000 hours of estimated lamp life. Otherwise NO CONS for the price.

Overall Review: Bulb replacement is part of the maintenance of owning this device; it is not a con. They will not last as long as RPTV bulb. The bulb for the HC5500 seems to currently run 350-475(MSRP) online. NewEgg does not seem to sell the bulb for the HC5500. Spent a great deal of time performing projector shelf room geometry calculation/planning, audio positioning, cabling, and room space planning and all worked exactly as expected within 15 minutes after the first time the projector was switch on for the first time. Prepping the room; screen (Elite CineGray 106 fixed), built-in projector box, built-in component rack, new cabling, new 2-output switch boxes, paint, furniture; even with all labor performed by myself will easily match (or exceed depending on what set of books you look at ;-)) the cost of the projector. Some toys are worth it though. Good luck with yours.
