ARK 4U-500-CA Black 4U Rackmount Case 3 External 5.25" Drive Bays
ARK 4U-500-CA Black 4U Rackmount Case 3 External 5.25" Drive Bays

Pros: this is a great case. we have 4-6 of them. just bought another for a new GPU compute server we are building. discovered that EEB server motherboards will not fit. this is an important detail that should be mentioned in the description.

Cons: EEB motherboards do not fit.

Terrible drive

LG WH10LS30 10X Blu-ray Burner - LightScribe Support - Bulk - OEM
LG WH10LS30 10X Blu-ray Burner - LightScribe Support - Bulk - OEM

Pros: cheap

Cons: cheap. Bought this drive in January for data backups. Have used Optical Quantum 4x and Maxell 4x BluRay disks. Get a coaster anytime I burn faster than 1x. The only time I have a chance at getting a useable disk is to burn at .4x (yes, point 4 x) I called LG and described my problem. They were responsive and sent me a new drive. The new drive has exactly the same problems, or worse. At one point the drive locked up during a burn. Not only did it create a coaster the OS stopped recognizing the drive. I had to reboot my machine to use the drive again. I called LG again to complain and ask for a better model. I explained to them that I now see that many people have trouble with this drive. He said they know of no problems with this drive. I said go look at Newegg.com and see the problems. He said they are a worldwide company and sell millions of drives, and they don't care about a few negative reviews at Newegg. Nice touch huh?

Overall Review: buy some other brand. I have spent so many hours reburning disks I wish I had paid double to get a reliable drive. I have probably burned 30 coasters -- at the cost of bluray disks, that is enough to have upgraded to a better drive from the start.

works great! very glad to have the extra space

works well, fits in 4u case

Dynatron R17 Intel Sandy Bridge EP/EX Processors for socket 2011 3U/Workstation Active Solution 2 Ball Bearing CPU Cooler
Dynatron R17 Intel Sandy Bridge EP/EX Processors for socket 2011 3U/Workstation Active Solution 2 Ball Bearing CPU Cooler

Pros: works well, easy to install. fits in a 4U case. cools my processors well. this is the best fan+cooler I could find for a 4U case. installs easily with a phillips screwdriver. Tried 2 coolmasters: one was too tall, the other was too wide and could only be installed with a flimsy sheet-metal wrench they provided.

Cons: none

terrible case: DO NOT BUY

Athena Power RM-3U364B95 Black SECC Japanese heavy duty steel 1.2mm Thickness 3U Rackmount Server Case with 80 PLUS Certified Ver. 2.92 EPS-12V 950W Green Server Power Supply 4 External 5.25" Drive Bays
Athena Power RM-3U364B95 Black SECC Japanese heavy duty steel 1.2mm Thickness 3U Rackmount Server Case with 80 PLUS Certified Ver. 2.92 EPS-12V 950W Green Server Power Supply 4 External 5.25" Drive Bays

Pros: none

Cons: power supply is inserted in the front so it exhausts into the case. cables from the ps wrap around 3 sides of the ps, through a small hole and into the main compartment of the case. the cables do not fit through the hole and do not reach the motherboard. had to remove an internal fan to get the cables to reach the motherboard. tried to move the power supply from the front of the case to the back, to its normal spot, but it will not fit because its an ATX power supply in a 3U case. after spending 2 hours trying to get the motherboard installed I gave up and sent it back.

RMA'd, still GARBAGE

Rosewill 25GB 4X BD-R 25 Packs Spindle Disc Model RCDM-10007
Rosewill 25GB 4X BD-R 25 Packs Spindle Disc Model RCDM-10007

Pros: none

Cons: I ordered these several weeks ago. I burned several disks. All attempts to burn these disks failed. Upon inspection I can see a discolored ring on the metalic surface of the disk. This ring corresponds to the location of the write failure. On the failed disks, I can see data was written from the inside of the disk to the location of the discoloration. Then no more data was burned. I contacted newegg to RMA, who redirected me to Rosewill, who processed the RMA and had Newegg send me the replacements. The replacement disks have the SAME discolored ring. It seems that the whole batch is bad but Newegg is still selling them...
