Most Favorable Review

Unbeatable at this price!!!

Polk Audio CS1 Series II Center Channel Speaker (Black) Single
Polk Audio CS1 Series II Center Channel Speaker (Black) Single

Pros: Very efficiant, crisp and clean.

Cons: none

Overall Review: The first day I had this hooked up, I was just testing it out and had movie playing. I left the room so I turned it down to a level that I would not have been able to hear speaking with my previous center channel. When I walked back in the room I couldn't beleive that I could hear clearly what was happening. And things only get better when you turn the volume up!! I still can't beleive I picked this thing up for $70!! You would have to spend hundreds more to obtain a center that would outdo this one. Do yourself a favor and pic up one of these with a few of the matched monitor bookshelf or floorstanders. Price to performance is unmatched in my experience with HT speakers. BTW I have the Monitor 50 & 30's with JBL sub running off of HK avr230.

Simple done well...

Harman Kardon AVR 1510 5.1 Channel Networked AV Receiver
Harman Kardon AVR 1510 5.1 Channel Networked AV Receiver

Pros: Simple setup great sound

Cons: Cheap remote no auotmatic calibration limited network options

Overall Review: This is turning out to be one of the most difficult reviews to write. I like the 1510, but at the same time, I would have trouble recomending it for the MSRP. It seems to me that at $300, it is overpiced. But, what you do get will help you speakers sound quite nice. My need was for a secondary setup in my home office. I found it open box locally for almost half of the listed price. And for that, I think it is a steal. The inputs on the back seem rather sparce, but 4 HDMI along with a couple analog and toslink should be sufficiant for most needs. If you are wanting component... you will have to look elsewhere. It is network enabled. You get vTuner, and DLNA. But thats it as far as that goes. For Pandora or any other type of Radio app, you will have to connect another device. Also, you will need to be close to a router or modem. I do not know of a wifi option for the 1510. To sum it up, What is there is a nice little package. For the money, you WILL find other brands that offer more features. Wether they sound better, well.. As always, that is subjective. -If this unit was selling for $235. I would have given it 5eggs.

So far, so good...

ONKYO TX-NR609 7.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver
ONKYO TX-NR609 7.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver

Pros: 2 zone, 2 sub out (1 assignable to zone2), improved Onkyo design, THX, Smooth Gui, Networking capable, 100w per, 4K UP via Marvell Qdeo, Component to HDMI switching, PC (vga) input, and probably more I am forgetting.

Cons: No power in rear (I have always plugged my sub's power to receiver), cheap remote w/no backlight, No cover or door for front inputs. I would have given 5 egg's if it had at least 2 of these. these aren't a huge deal just irritating. **this may not be the receivers fault just FYI** I cannot hook HDMI out directly to display. I have to go out to a switchbox then to display.

Overall Review: All in all this is a good receiver. I paid $399 on an Easter sale. Overall it provides a smooth detailed sound. I have not had much time to test, but have tried music from usb drive, pandora via BR, BR movie with DTS HD, and dvd DD. Imaging and soundfield never had me wanting to tweak the settings, which is something that I couldn't stop myself from doing with my previous AVR. My main cons are relatively minor, however I find each of them quite irritating. The remote feels cheap in the hand and makes me question how long it will last. The new design is a big improvement, but why mess it up with a big hole in the bottom corner? They should have put everything under a door, or provided a pop off cover. I would have left on as I have no real use for the imputs other than the seup mic. And no switched power? Really! THX may be a marketing ploy, but it sounds cool to say and makes me feel good to play with it so mission accomplished. I will give more feedback l8tr

Good value

Polk Audio Monitor50 Series II Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single
Polk Audio Monitor50 Series II Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single

Pros: Good bang for buck, nice build quality. They look like they mean business!!

Cons: Unfortunatly their business is not producing dynamic bottom end.

Overall Review: Being tower speakers, I expected the bottom end to be more robust. I have heard bookshelf speakers that can be had in this price range that had better bottom end. I probably would not recomend these for a stereo setup. But since a subwoofer is is nearly always included in todays home audio setup, it is not a huge drawback. The are still very sweet sounding (and looking), very clean and accurate sound. The Monitor 50's make great mains for a surround system when used with a subwoofer. Just don't expect to be blown away without a decent sub.

A must for people who connect pc to TV/Projector

iomega Select 1TB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive 34579
iomega Select 1TB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive 34579

Pros: TB drive for less than $90. I've used it on 4 different computers so far (XP & Vista) and have had no problems recognizing drive or transferring files.

Cons: Other gadgets, that should read a USB storage device, will not recognize the drive at all. My Kodak photo frame does not recognize the drive at all, so I can't transfer pictures to it with this drive. (yet) One of my HT receivers has a USB input that I've used to watch avi files via flash drive. The receiver does not recognize the drive either. when I figure out how to use the drive with these devices, I'll update my review. I would give it 5 eggs if it will work with these.

Overall Review: This drive is a good value.
