Pros: fast delivery reasonable price

Cons: Should have guessed it. these drives appear to be take out of service. smart data shows SMART Self-test log structure revision number 1 Num Test_Description Status Remaining LifeTime(hours) LBA_of_first_error # 1 Short offline Completed without error 00% 1 - # 2 Short offline Completed without error 00% 1 - # 3 Extended offline Completed without error 00% 15298 - # 4 Short offline Completed without error 00% 15152 - Where #1 and 2 were done by me and #3 was there when I received the disk. So it had 15,298 hours on it and some how that value got reset before I got the device. They are apparently refurbished drives.

Pros: Appearance, Price,Sleep feature, support with guarantee, heats up very quickly after going to sleep. Mine died after a few hours with error code 5-E then the heating element stopped working which prevented me from completing a project in a timely fashion. They replaced it with no cost to me.

Cons: Manual is not online, does not explain the things on display, eg Error code 5-E ( or any others?). or what causes it to sleep ( I discovered a tilt sensor inside handle, you can hear it if you shake it ). The supplied tip was sharp point ( for surface mount ?) instead of much more useful chisel, which is out of stock 3 weeks now. No UL sticker. Update - The replacement also started displaying the 5-E error code. Re-flowing the soldering on the PCB in the handle seems to have resolved this problem. I also noticed that the PCB board had about 77 volts on it when the unit was switched off, makes me think that the power switch does not switch the hot side of the power line. BE CAREFUL I suspect that if the heating element dies, that the controller will take a hit, Is there over load protection inside? fuses? The pencil does not have a connector to the base unit.

Overall Review: I would buy this again and would recommend it to others: They should put manual online, add all display codes with meanings. Add Diagnostic information associated with any error codes. Supply it with much more useful chisel tip. Stock chisel tips, and heating element. Customer support tells me the heating element is the same as for the model # 4061 which appears to be a 60 watt unit instead of the claimed 75 watts for the 3020 After all this device is likely to be bought by folks with more than a little electronic repair skill.

Pros: dual band. On one LAN test I got a 30MB transfer of a large wave file. However most tests were less. This was with high band N.

Cons: When you turn on FTP it enables both LAN and WAN sides. I tried to disable the WAN side with a firewall setting but no go. It also doesn't do well with dyndns-free. They require you update them at least once/month. About a month after putting in service I got a warning from them saying no updates. Well the free dyndns service at asus seems to work well.

Overall Review: Pretty even though the shape is peculiar. I knocked it down to three eggs because of the FTP and dyndns-free failings Enabled me to move my LAN to 1Gb
