Works as intended
Overall Review: Tested with 5950x and Gigabyte X570 Xtreme - works like a charm.
What's wrong OCZ?
Pros: It's 800W , it has long cables ( can be a con , if you have small case) , it was working
Cons: Died couple of days ago on me . I was watching a movie , when the whole system suddenly went down , after pressing power button I got a electib bzzz sound and that's it , no fans working , nothing , after 35 seconds of massive paniking I took my PC part by part , and then swapt this thing in to my second rig , and had the same problem , well .... changed back my other PSU and it worked ( althou my second rig died yesterday brrrr ... ) . Still have to check if my 4870x2 and mobo/ram/cpu on my first rig are alright ( I hope my second rig didn't die afterwards because of this cursed PSU try out)
Overall Review: Worked for about 7 month ..... currently sended it to OCZ for replacement , but after coming back to newegg and reading this massive failure broblems , I'm scared to try the new one when it comes to me X_X.
A good alternative to even more overpriced boards from other brands
Pros: Worked out of the box. Slick design Decent functionality and expansion options Monster-sized VRM
Cons: The dreaded RAM sticker - I got hit with the same paper sticker issue that was reported in the tech media, but I was prepared and had a set of Tweezers at the ready. Stability issues with early bios - my G.Skill DDR5 6000 that is on the QVL list wasn't stable with the out of box bios. Got stable after updated bios to the latest beta. Weird issues requiring Windows power mode being put into performance over balance in order to avoid intermittent freezes. With Balanced power profile in Windows 11 the system would freeze for 10 seconds. Switched to Performance mode and the issue went away. Not sure what is causing it, but I would assume it's an AM5 issue and not necessarily a Taichi issue. (I've ran Prime95, OCCT and Geekbench with both Performance and Balance modes and the system doesn't show any errors.) I think it has something to do with power states. Would be nice to have a second PCI-E 5 M.2 slot (just wishful thinking) Clunky bios.
Overall Review: This is my first ASRock board. I have previously dearth with boards from ASUS/MSI/Gigabyte/Biostar/Foxcon/EVGA. ASRock definitely takes the crowd for the clunkiest UEFI bios I have seen to date, but minor gripes aside - the board looks solid, overall worked out of the box and has an exceptionally well designed VRM. Since I am not stranger to jank (hello Foxcon!) I think given what you get relevant to the competition at the same price point this board still deserves 5/5.
A multithread monster
Pros: This CPU is fast, and I mean FAST.
Cons: Targeted TJmax looks high. I know that 95C is supposedly the intended operating temperature under full load (based off what AMD stated to reviewers such as GamersNexus), but it still an uncomfortably high number. I paired it with a 480mm rad in push config and in prime95 it can still reach those temperatures.
Overall Review: If you are jumping from a 1xxx Ryzen or a 2xxx Ryzen (or pretty much anything 11th gen and below from Intel) this will be a noticeable jump in performance. Jumping from 5950x Ryzen wasn't that big of an impact, but AM5 socket has a lot of potential and this flagship CPU doesn't disappoint.
Works as intended
Pros: EXPO profile works as advertised. Solid memory kit.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Paired this ram kit with 7950x and Asrock Taichi X670E. Had some freezes initially, but after updating to latest bios everything works like a charm. Tested with OCCT memtest, Prime95, routine usage - so far smooth sailing. I have been using G.Skill for years now throughout multiple system builds and for the most part this brand has been the most consistent in terms of quality and performance.
0_o monster in my case ? =)
Pros: it's a pure "tornado" power , just as advertised. Ok here's my experience with it : I have 2 4870x2's crossfired .. and 1.6v going on to my NB ( BlackOps mobo sucks a LOT of volts when you OC a quad core on it .. at least mine does , and it works fine...) so with a stock cooler on NB I couldn't run any game at all - temps would go over 67-70 under full-full load. then I swaped that monster ( Vantec) - 37-40 at idle , 42046 under full load .. a 30c temps drop 0_o .
Cons: It is LOUD , and i mean LOUD , and no option for inbuild fan control - a bad thing
Overall Review: ok , I need some advise on what fan controller I should get ... preferably the one that already been tested to work with this monster ( I tried zalman fanmate 2 , but it doesn't work )
