FRUSTRAITING RAID SETUP BUT STILL A GREAT BOARD.

GIGABYTE GA-X48-DS4 LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-X48-DS4 LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Great brand especially with ASUS losing face as of late. High tweakability, easy build, good utilities, energy efficient. looks good. crossfire in 2x pci express 2.0.Would have gone with a SLI solution but the geforce 700 series has had some bugs that i didn't care messing with.

Cons: The raid setup still requires a floppy which is frustraiting when most FP drives i own are mostly dead or dieing. Instruction tell you to use MSDOS before anything is installed to transfer the raid drivers to the floppy before in the windows install. You need another machine with a floppy drive to transfer the files first then you need the drive on your new pc. this is real fun if you only have one drive and you have to swap it between PCs and your Fdrive is registering on your old failing machine. Gigabyte should have gone with cd or a download or something other than the floppy.

Overall Review: I would give this a 5 if not for the raid setup. good buy if you don't mind spending the extra dough. teamed up with q6600,2x2gb ocz1066ddr2, zalman 110mm heatsink, 2 wd400gb sata2 in RAID 0, and a MSI 3870 OC, SB s-fi pro and it runs crysis on high/ ultra high smoothly without being overclock.

Most Critical Review

Plays disc great... WiFi apps not so much.

SAMSUNG 3D WiFi Built-in Smart Blu-ray Player BD-E6500
SAMSUNG 3D WiFi Built-in Smart Blu-ray Player BD-E6500

Pros: The integration of the Apps are great and allow networking of Netflix and Hulu. Netflix looks far better than my computer's (GTX 260) output to the same monitor, even with the same resolution. The sound is crystal clear as well. Quick bluRay loads. Very happy when it works.

Cons: The WiFi is absolutely horrid. This is my first 1 egg review and it earned it. The WiFi will connect on startup just fine. The next time you start up it will forget your ip configuration and show all zeros even though it was correct last time. This is even with obtain ip automatically. You can try to set manually but it won't switch over. Big time software/hardware bug. I thought it was my wireless router but after trying 3 other routers it's clearly the BluRay player. I have found a solution and that's to unplug the player and let it reset then plug it back in. Magically it will work. I shouldn't have to do this though. I'm also not a fan of how large the icons are on Netflix. I wish the interface was scaled like the standard internet browser.

Overall Review: After trying to deal with it for 3 months I'm sending it back to Samsung. I thought a firmware update would help but they've had 2 in so far with no better success. I have 3 of their monitors and a 50" LED which are all amazing. This is the first Samsung product to let me down.

Network Storage and cloud so so easy, even a caveman can do it.

WD My Book Live 3TB Personal Cloud Storage
WD My Book Live 3TB Personal Cloud Storage

Pros: Super easy setup. No need to go through router permissions to get the networkable storage to work like an FTP. Upload and download remotely from a computer or supported wireless device, it works great on my iPhone. Computer backup is easy as well. You can add other folders or user specified folders which is great.

Cons: As all of these devices are, the read write speeds are a bit slow. This is one of the fastest though.

Overall Review: User interface was mind blowingly easy. It does everything right so far. iTunes server doesn't appear to support album covers though.

680 GTX

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card ZT-60101-10P
ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card ZT-60101-10P

Pros: Great performance at a lower energy cost. Runs BF3 with 3 monitors at ULTRA settings with high and smooth FPS. Is backwards compatible with PCI-Express 2.0. Huge upgrade from my 260 gtx that I could only run on med for an acceptable frame rate.

Cons: The software driver install list could be a bit better. I wish it came with utilities. Zotac's customer service is overseas and they lack a local 1-800 number. Email appears to be the only contact option for the states, of which 3 days in and I still haven't had acknowlegment of my email to them. Zotac is new to me and I only purchased it because EVGA was completly sold out over and over again.

Overall Review: WARNING to anyone running Foxconn's Renaissance X58 MB. The current bios does not run Fermi or Keplar video cards correctly. Currently the bios misreads the memory allocations and will cause severe system resource consumption due to a conflict between these cards and the bios. Even with an i7 and 12gb of ram my system was stuck in the 90-100% system resource range and this blocked me from running anything. At first I thought I had a defective 680 until I plugged it into my other computer. Please don't confuse my comments as an issue with the zotac 680 as it ran flawlessly after I pinned down the issue. I'm only trying to warn anyone else with the same setup before they spend a day and a half spinning their wheels. It might be wise to verify you're in the clear with your MB before purchasing. There was an XFX motherboard mentioned with the same conflict.

It works

Pros: blends in with the base boards. And, well.... it works.

EXCELLENT BUY

ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler
ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler

Pros: Extremely good air cooling capabilities and good looks. AND IT'S HUGE!!!

Cons: Too big for most cases. check dimmensions before ordering or ready the shears. 3 pin connector instead of 4. would have liked the mobo control rather than a manual speed control. Too much $$ unless there's a special deal.

Overall Review: I've purchased the 92mm version and it did a really good job so I couldn't pass this one up especially with the comparison charts I've seen. Teamed it up with Gigabyte GA-X48 series MOBO, Core2Duo Q6600, 2x2gb 1066ddr2 OCZ reaper memory in a Silverstone HTPC LC-20M case. The top of the heat sink can be modified with a good pair of scissors. In this case I was 1/4" too tall. If I mounted the ram in the dimm closest to the fan I would have to notch around the top of the memories heatsink.
