Great first 1080p Monitor!
Pros: This monitor replaced a 1680x1050 monitor running at 75hz, and the upgrade was super worth it. I am a gamer, but also use my PC for Android, and Web Development. Gaming at 1080p and 165hz works great with my GTX 1070 ASUS ROG STRIX. Nvidia Control Panel recognizes the monitor right away as a monitor that will work with GSync though the monitors Adaptive Sync Feature. Using OSD 2.0 works seamless with changing the monitor settings The Professional Designer mode is great for designing User Interfaces, low-light reading mode is great for long hours looking at code and documents. The HDCR feature makes colors super bright and makes colors vibrant on the screen. The monitor fits great on a 48 Inch wide desk, both straight on or catty-corned. The monitor adjust for most configurations. The base is not to large, but is sturdy.
Cons: Initial Setup does require that the monitor is initially plugged into the computer via HDMI 1. If you have a Display Port cable, use the HDMI port for set up and to change input, then change to the display port input, remove the HDMI, and insert the Display port, after that the monitor selects Display port by default You may need to update the Mystic lighting app and OSD 2.0 via a link from another monitor page on the MSI website. Currently the MSI page does not have the links to download these two applications onto your system under the current monitor, but the updated versions of the application do work with the monitor.
Overall Review: I would recommend this monitor to anyone making the jump to a 1080p monitor, or a monitor over 75hz. I would additionally recommend this monitor to people who want a gaming monitor that also performs well for everyday use.
