Good, low cost desktop dock

UNITEK 3.5" / 2.5" HDD / SSD SATA III Docking Station with 12V/2A Power Adapter - USB 3.0 HDD Docking
UNITEK 3.5" / 2.5" HDD / SSD SATA III Docking Station with 12V/2A Power Adapter - USB 3.0 HDD Docking

Pros: Low cost, simple design, works in Linux (big surprise, it's USB)

Cons: The LEDs are honestly a bit too bright for my taste. I'm really not a big fan of the retina searing bright lights a lot of manufacturers use these days. It's not that much to add in a larger resister to drop the current a bit more and dim the LEDs down. I'm not knocking an egg off, just personal preference.

Overall Review: The spacer for a 2.5" drive is an insert that you have to remove and keep track off if you use a 3.5" drive. Also in both Windows and Linux, it shows up as a drive even if there isn't one physically in it. Be sure to turn it off with the switch and turn it on once your drive is inserted and you won't have an issue

Great motherboard, just a couple of items to beware of

GIGABYTE X470 AORUS GAMING 7 WIFI AM4 AMD X470 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE X470 AORUS GAMING 7 WIFI AM4 AMD X470 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Very solid and easy to read markings. The onboard diagnostic LEDs are helpful to know where something might be going wrong, and believe it or not, the light staying on after a bios reset/power off is actually kinda nice. It makes seeing inside your case, without a flashlight, a lot easier. I have my tower under a desk so this was a bit of a welcome surprise. The BIOS setup is easy to understand and simple to find your way around in. I really like that the lighting can be changed from the BIOS directly. Flashing was very simple (more on that in a bit) and worked beautifully. So far it's been a very welcome replacement for the MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon

Cons: The integrated I/O shield did not work well with my Cooler Master Master Case Pro 5. The board would not mount properly with it on. To remove the I/O shield, you have to first remove the black back reinforcement, then remove the light panel above the expansion slots, then remove the light panel above the I/O ports. It's more than just the two screws you can physically see in the bottom reinforcement plate. READ IF YOU HAVE A PLEXTOR NVMe DRIVE If you have a Plextor M8Pe, do NOT put it in slot M2A (the one directly under PCI-e slot 1). When I had my primary NVMe in this slot, the board would not post reliably at all, no matter what bios (master or backup, even in single BIOS mode) I had, post firmware update to F5 (mine came with F4 already). I could only get it to post after a power on, wait, then press the reset button. I had a WD Black 256GB NVMe in slot M2B. After some additional "I guess this is my life for now" shrugging, I realized the Plextor was not always showing up. I swapped the two drives around, system has been rock solid ever since. I've powered off and on multiple times, installed Windows 10, yanked the power cord mid-post and mid-boot, no issues. I don't quite understand what the difference is between the two sockets (they're both listed as SATA/NVMe capable) but placement matters. This is the only reason I did not give it a 5 rating is because for all of the diagnostic LEDs and codes, I ended up having to theorize the NVMe drives were the problem based purely on a single instance of one not showing up. For the record on the NVMe issue above: Yes, I was using the included heatsinks and no the heatsink was not touching anything metal on my video card. Yes both are working now, and both were in the MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon I had before (same arrangement, Plextor in Slot 1, WD in Slot 2) and this was not an issue.

Overall Review: I wish the wires on the included antennae were a bit thicker/more sturdy. I bought this to also get away from having to use an ASUS PCI-e wireless card but that card's included antennae has sturdier cables and dual prongs. I'll keep this one for now though I may replace it in the future. I also wish the onboard NIC could be disabled. I don't have a network jack where my computer is (thus the WiFi) so it seems a bit of a waist to have it enabled and not used. It's not a detractor, just a wish.

Incredibly fast

WD Black 256GB Performance SSD - M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive - WDS256G1X0C
WD Black 256GB Performance SSD - M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive - WDS256G1X0C

Pros: Wow, I thought SATA III was fast, this thing is smoking!!!

Cons: I didn't get two and RAID them together

Good, fast, flashy

CORSAIR Vengeance LED 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Memory (Desktop Memory) Model CMU16GX4M2C3000C15R
CORSAIR Vengeance LED 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Memory (Desktop Memory) Model CMU16GX4M2C3000C15R

Pros: Worked out of the box, runs at the speed it's rated for without any issues.

Cons: None really, unless you don't like the lighting effects but then why would you buy LED RAM?

Quiet but hot

Habey EMC-600B Black Heavy duty 3mm aluminum Server Chassis 60W
Habey EMC-600B Black Heavy duty 3mm aluminum Server Chassis 60W

Pros: Small, includes a fanless/noisless power supply Room for 2x2.5" drives

Cons: HOT HOT HOT!! I have my home firewall in this which has a low voltage core solo processor. The CPU runs around 88-90 degress. The CPU fan runs at nearly max RPM all the time trying to keep it cooled down. I'm going to get a couple of 40mm Noctuas and attach them to the side to bring in fresh air

Overall Review: Don't use this with any high end CPU. Keep it to fanless/low power. I wouldn't recommend mounting more than 1 drive on the included mounting plate anyways. It's just not worth killing what little cooling you have.

Nice, low cost card

ORICO USB3.0 & eSATA Combine Host Controller Card Adapter Card [ NEC Renesas Chipset] (1 x USB3.0 & 1 x eSATA) - Black (PNU3539-U3E)
ORICO USB3.0 & eSATA Combine Host Controller Card Adapter Card [ NEC Renesas Chipset] (1 x USB3.0 & 1 x eSATA) - Black (PNU3539-U3E)

Pros: No additional power connector required to add one USB 3 and e-sata port to a system. USB 3 controller is a Renesas which is supported in a linux kernel 2.6.32. e-Sata doesn't seem to be detected but haven't spent a lot of time investigating yet.

Cons: None

Overall Review: The company goes out of their way to contact you immediately after a sale with driver advice (they must assume everyone uses Windows) and provide you with a dedicated email address to use for help.

Wow!!!!!

I ordered a refurb monitor and expected not to get any cables but man did they blow my mind. Not only did I get a power cable, but a full 6 foot USB, VGA, DVI, AND Displayport cable. It was a very nice surprise and a nice touch! I will definitely buy from Innovate Tech again!!
