Bit the bullet

Pros: Update to my earlier review. I initially bought one of these drives along with a cheaper Samsung. My overall experience didn't show much of a difference in my 1 month worth of testing. However, the number of unhappy customers with the Samsung over the course of a year turned me off, even though it's ~ 50% cheaper. I ended up buying 10 additional drives of the WD RE3s for a RAID 6 setup (11 drives total). So far I'm very pleased. Not a single SMART error on any of the 11 drives received. I'm getting 630 MB/s bursts, 521 MB/s average sequential reads, and 7.9 ms random access. This is w/ a 64kB strip size, LBA 64 mode, RAID 6.
Cons: Biggest con is the price - but I guess you get what you pay for (or I hope). Check all of the reviews here on Newegg before making your final decision - for an 11+ drive file server, the drives are by far the largest percentage of the cost, and could also end up being the largest time suck if you end up replacing/rebuilding an array every couple months. In the end the extra cost was worth it for my peace of mind, if nothing else.
Overall Review: It might just be my case (NORCO 20 bay hot swap), but these things start cooking (62+C) during heavy use/intial RAID build. I had to open up the case and stick a large fan in front of it, which brought the temps down into the 50C range. It's going to get worse once I fill it with 9 more drives. For those building a large array, also be prepared for very long build and rebuild times (7 hrs total for the full volume).
Missing hardware

Pros: Rails themselves are good quality. Thick steel, smooth sliding action.
Cons: I did not recieve adequate hardware to mount the rails to the rack. I know this is just an inconvenience - you can pick up the needed hardware at any hardware store - but you shouldn't have to, you're paying for it with this kit. Luckily I also bought two sets of NORCO rails - and the NORCO rails provided extra hardware.
Overall Review: Since the price is about the same, and the rails themselves appear to be identical to the NORCO rails, I do not recommend this product. Save yourself the hassle of purchasing additional hardware and buy the NORCO rails instead.
Cheap, works great

Pros: Works with the "old" Microsoft branded remote sensor.
Cons: No backlit or illuminated buttons for operating in dark rooms
very fine

Pros: Running strong on an intel C216 chipset motherboard from Asus (the only one). Used as a file server w/ ARECA 1280ML card and 20 each 1TB WD enterprise level HDDs. Everything is rock solid running WHS 2011 SP1. Great for a full home backup of 6 computers and a center for all DVD/Blu-ray/TV, and music recordings. Great not to have to buy a video card that wouldn't get used.
Cons: None
So far so good

Pros: Just installed with 16 GB Gskill DDR3 1600 CL 7 RAM, Xeon E3 1225, Areca 1280ML RAID. Working great so far.
Cons: None - thanks for the reviews below - made sure I got the right CPU w/ graphics.
Working great for > 1 yr

Pros: Have this streaming HDTV and blu-ray to clients w/ N-PCI rosewill cards. It's just plain awesome. My max actual throughput isn't close to 300 mbps, I think I top out around 90 mbps. I don't know how you expect to hit 300 when the LAN ports are only 100 mbps though. Overall I'm very happy. The setup was very easy - the "IT" jeeeeenius below that couldn't figure it out...well, enough said.
Cons: Nope
