Pros: Replaced aging DS211, needed more room and DS415+ was looking as perfect replacement. Old DS was running out of space and since it was my 3rd Synology decided to bet again on them. This time i wanted 4bay NAS after reading about it for a month decided that 415+ is the one i wanted. Hybrid RAID is a plus. Synology did excellent job with this fella. had it up and running in 20 minutes. The problem was my old synology it took forever to transfer 5.3TB info.
Cons: I wish it was cheaper :) still got it for 660$ which was a nice discount.
Overall Review: Doesn't make me a sandwich?
Netgear support IS BAD!!
Pros: When it works is great, You can join the 2 5GHz network under one SSID...
Cons: This router is great until its stops working. Mine did that at the 10th month. My 2.4GHz network is going to disappear randomly sometimes for 6-7 days, after restart is showing up for like 20 minutes and than just vanishes. Also when i try to transfer files between network devices it just hangs and sometimes i have to try like 15-20 times until the file/s is transferred. So you just grab USB flash drive and go to the other device. But i guess anyone can have bad luck with his electronic product right? So far i had this approach if i have warranty just contact them and ask for replacement .... Yah but that's not the case with Netgear.. after 90 days YOU HAVE TO PAY 140$ per year to have technical support even if you want to RMA the product you have to give them your CREDIT CARD and they are going to hold the 140$ if they think they fixed your problem. And then you call again, and again because the problem show up again. BUt you already PURCHASED for 140$ "technical support". JUST WOW!!!!! You spend 350$ on router and then you have to pay 140$ for support withing the 1 year of hardware warranty you have. So in order to see if you need the RMA, netgear BLACKMAIL you for 140$ for support. I am really upset i had until this moment i would say 7-8 routers. Every time is the TOP of the line model. And of course all the other network equipment wireless adaptors, Power over the line adaptors was netgear.... NO MORE!!! That was the last product i will buy from Netgear. There is pretty decent competition out there. And i am sure they don't blackmail their customers when RMA is needed. I can swallow 350$. But i will not spend a cent with this company in the future. And all my friends are asking me for advice when they want to buy something related with the computers. I will make sure they dont have to go trough this hell as me. And avoid Netgear in the future.
Overall Review: My thoughts... I love the product until it started to give me troubles. I am extremely disappointed with netgear support. I vouch NOT to buy their products anymore. And to prevent any of my friends and colleagues of buying their products so they dont have to go trough the blackmail netgear is forcing you in order to determine if your product have to me RMAed or not.
