Pros: I'm using this IDE drive in a MacAlly external enclosure and connecting it to my computer via Firewire. Even with Firewire's "speed limitation" of 400Mbs the drive is FOUR times faster than my iMac's built-in burner, managing an average burn speed of 8x. The drive isn't terribly loud when burning discs. Plays great with Roxio Toast Titanium v.8~!
Cons: I've noticed just a smidge of lag when reading discs. LightScribe is overrated; the burned images are low contrast. This isn't necessarily a ding against Lite-On though. Note that if you're working on a Mac you'll need to buy a 3rd party application called "DiscLabel" in order to burn images to LightScribe media. You'll also need to install LightScribe drivers from HP.
Overall Review: From what I've read Mac users should move the jumper on the back of the drive to "Master" when using the drive in an enclosure. Be sure to check comments of other users to confirm that this is correct.
