Comments: Aluminum/plastic materials are high quality and assembles tight/solid. I'm using it fine with a Pioneer 109 DVD drive. Plug and play easy with my PowerBook. Blue LED is massive and blinding so I unplugged it. My only gripe is it did not work with a 300GB Seagate hard drive - would not mount/was not recognized. No problem - I'll just get a 3.5" case for it. I'd recommend this drive.
Pros: Solid, compact enclosure.
Cons: No on/off switch. Brushed aluminum top and bottom pieces scratch easily.
Overall Review: I'm very impressed with this enclosure. I dropped in a Pioneer K05 laptop drive in it and runs perfectly. Very solid and well-built once you assemble it. It runs bus powered over Firewire on my PowerBook G4 - not having to use an AC adapter is a nice added benefit!
Comments: Very impressed with this little enclosure. Assembles unbelievably easy and feels very robust. I put a 300GB Seagate HD in it and it's full size (278GB formatted) is recognized. It was plug and play with my PowerBook G4. Minor complaints: -Blue LED is blinding as in all external enclosure - I just disconnected it. -The 2 black screws that secure the back of the enclosure are very small. I just about sheared one of them screwing it in. -No rubber feet for vertical mounting. Otherwise a highly recommended drive.
