Very nice - works great in Linux too

Pros: It's fast - USB-2 scans (*duplex*) barely pause for 1 second before the next letter-sized sheet starts to feed (at 150dpi). Handles different page sizes at same time, though the smaller stuff may not be perfectly aligned. Works great with gscanpdf or xsane (Linux). I've scanned thousands of docs at this point - owned since March 2010, and I'm amazed it's been that long as I write this...
Cons: It does feel a bit flimsy; I once caused it to jam up and work improperly by pushing the blue light, trying to open the assembly (DON'T push the blue light!). Once I found the piece of plastic I'd knocked out of alignment, all was good.
Overall Review: I wish it was wider than 8.5" - some things can't be scanned, but for this price, it's a compromise worth making.
bling and newegg computer systems don't play well together.

Pros: n/a
Cons: I'm an IT Architect and these opinions are my own. I needed something before a trip - so that the gift could be given while on vacation (mother's day, btw). Two days after ordering the newegg status was still not charged (so obviously not shipped). The items I chose from bling were not going to make it. I spent time in chat on newegg and on the phone with bling, and everyone was very nice. The newegg status did not match what bling said /they/ saw via their own systems. I had canceled the order, but it turns out it had already shipped. So when it arrived - I mean when we got back from vacation and it was at the house - I simply 'rejected' the delivery and it was returned. Disappointing that real-time computer systems could be not so real-time at all. Lucky for me I'd ordered three items so when one of them made it, I was not in the dog house.
Overall Review: Bling seemed seriously concerned and said they'd work with newegg. But be aware that your newegg order status may not reflect reality with this vendor. I've ordered tens of thousands of dollars from NE over the years, and I'll probably continue. Just wanted to warn others that you need a plan B for really time-sensitive purchases, though.
I'm now on a mission. I am Johnny Appleseed,

Pros: none
Cons: I'm now on a mission. I am Johnny Appleseed, and my message is that any highpoint product - if you are running on linux - is going to leave you in the lurch, so badly you will be just as enraged as I am right now. My rocketraid card - 2013 - has pathetically outdated drivers on their site. You can try to compile the 2012 driver software you can get from their site. When that does not work, you find forums on the 'net that provide help and even source patches to get you to kernel 3.10. When you fail even with those patches (say, on kernel 4.x on fedora 21), you will have no choice - you must try to get support from the vendor. There, they insist you enter your serial number. When you do this, they call it 'invaild' (not valid). You get THREE TRIES, and then you are completely done. Buy someone else's product and live without your server for a day or two. There is no phone number, no further recourse. No way to email them at all. AVOID Highpoint. It's insane to give them any of your money. One day, you too will be as enraged as I am right now. It's as certain as the sun rising.

bought silver, now buying black

Pros: I use this for my Dish DVR. DVR only usb-2 so no need for usb-3 external drive. Already had one 80-GB drive filled with classics. Olympics on now, demands more space. So time for a second one (I have two Dish 612's anyway).
Cons: To see the blue light 'flicker' to show data transfer, you must have your eye on a direct line, looking into the LED from the front of the device. It's a bit inconvenient, but when you see where the light is, you'll understand why (it's a loooong way from the bulb to the front of the enclosure).
