Seagate SV35.3 ST3750330SV 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Seagate SV35.3 ST3750330SV 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: This is an excellent hard drive both in quality and (Gigabyte) per unit cost. It is a video surveillance drive designated by the SV in the model number. If you're a Mac user this is definitely the hard drive for you. Definitely worth the extra cost.

Cons: None so far as I can tell.

Overall Review: No firmware to update as in the less expensive model (ST3750330AS-u$129.99), no jumpers to configure, no hassles. Fast, quiet, low heat. Highly recommended.

Seagate SV35.3 ST3750330SV 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Seagate SV35.3 ST3750330SV 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Wrote an earlier review of this SV [Surveillance Video] drive. Have now owned three of these drives for over 1 year. Purchased originally for about 159.oo u$. These drive run very cool, typically 9 to 13 degrees F cooler than my other internal drives in the adjacent bays. They run in 2 x 8 core mac pros. These drives are often running close to full capacity. I have not seen a problem from any of the three, two of them are the main boot drives. Until the firmware and failure problems are resolved with the larger 1 TB, 1.5 and 2 TB drives I prefer to stick with these as they are known to perform well.

Cons: None so far

Overall Review: I am considering populating all of my remaining bays [5 more] with these drives now that the price is even lower. I feel they are worth the premium paid. Cost and reliability vs. hassle, failure and possible data loss. Highly recommend these drives for boot drive, data storage and video surveillance applications.

The Seagate to get .......

Seagate BarraCuda 7200.11 ST3750330AS 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Seagate BarraCuda 7200.11 ST3750330AS 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: This drive is great so far as Gigabyte per unit cost. If that is your sole concern.

Cons: These drives require a windows/PC w/SATA and a floppy drive in order to update the firmware as per Seagate. Most ship with SD04 firmware, AD14 is the newer firmware which is BETA. Which means it will work with most systems if it doesn't it may be updated in the future.

Overall Review: If you have only a Mac, then this is the drive for you. The surveillance video, or SV Hard Drives (SV35.3 - ST3750330SV u$159.99) are made for 24x7 operation and extreme read/write required for video surveillance/editing. They plug right into the Mac system, no jumpers, no firmware update, no hassles. My advice is to pay the extra 30.00 and get a more reliable drive. If you have a Mac it's a given, unless you have a PC with aforesaid requirements handy to update the firmware.
