SAMSUNG Spinpoint M Series MP0603H 60GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA-6 2.5" Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Great drive. Replaced wife's dead 30GB drive in her Gateway 450ROG. Had no issues with this replacement. Seems to be snappier and quieter, as well.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Harder to find non-SATA drives for notebooks these days.

GIGABYTE GeForce 7900GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Support Video Card GV-NX79T256DP-RH-ED

Pros: Fast as heck. Great upgrade from 6800GT.

Cons: Not sure if it's a bad card, or if I have a bad mobo.

Overall Review: This card was an RMA exchange for a 7800GT that was dying/dead. As soon as I got the 7900GT, I was thrilled to see how quiet it was. However, the first night I had it installed, I was getting temps of about 64C while playing World of Warcraft. Later that night, it locked up, blue screened on nv4_disp, forcing me to power down. This has happened a handful of times now. I've even gone as far as updating to the latest version of the nVidia drivers, 91.47 as well as my motherboard's BIOS.

Great little box, a little loud

Comments: I have been entranced by these things since I built one for my buddy six months ago. I put together the SS51 for him, and he's loved it, and I've loved it. I decided it was time to downsize from my mongo watercooled world of A7N8X Deluxe and step into something sleeker and sexier...for me and my wife. These are a little loud, but what can you do? Well, you can modify them. I replaced the heatpipe fan w/ the Vantec Stealth 80mm. Changed the Northbridge fan w/ a Zalman Gold fanless heatsink, and changed the PSU fan with a very hard to find 40mm ADDA fan that is 14dBA.

Bug in 3DMark

Comments: I think there is a bug in 3DMark2001 that incorrectly reads some of the higher Athlon XPs.

Built this for a friend

Comments: I put this together a few weeks back for a good friend who relied on my services! We set him up with a P4 2.53, two 256MB Corsair PC2700 DIMMs, a WD 80GB Special Edition Hard Drive, a Plextor 12/10/32A CD-Burner that he had, and a Radeon 9700 Pro video card! We cranked out 13,756 3DMark2001SE! We didn't even try to overclock his video card or his memory or CPU!

Comments: I was a little bit reserved when I first received this product. I thought, yeah, it'll print just like those old HP photo printers which printed like crap a few years back. When I printed my first 4x6 and 8x10, I almost crapped my pants. This thing is stellar. It'll blow you away. The only way you can tell the prints are from a printer and not a lab would be to look at them under a microscope!
