Works as it should

USB 3.0 19 Pin / 20 pin Male to Front Panel towards to USB 2.0 to Motherboard Header Box 9 Pin / 10 pin Female Adapter Converter Joiner Housing Cable
USB 3.0 19 Pin / 20 pin Male to Front Panel towards to USB 2.0 to Motherboard Header Box 9 Pin / 10 pin Female Adapter Converter Joiner Housing Cable

Pros: Inexpensive and it works. If the front USB ports on your case are 3.0 but your mobo only has USB 2.0 headers, this is the item to buy. As other have pointed out, obviously speed will be 2.0, but at least the ports will function.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: This item is shipped direct from China via International Mail. In my case, this worked out amazingly well, considering it's the USPS. Shipped China 9/20 at 7:14 pm. Delivered 9/28 Brooklyn, NY 2:59 pm. USPS tracking number actually works for international mail and if you sign up for email updates, these are very detailed and timely, unlike for domestic shipments.

Good quality. Better than I expected.

No problems

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9Q-32GXM
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9Q-32GXM

Pros: All memory recognized on the first try at full capacity.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: You'd think memory recognition would be a non-event since this kit is listed on the Asus Memory QVL, but Asus mobos are known to be finicky about memory and my prior Asus X58 build with a different memory brand did not go so smoothly, having to try all sticks in all possible DIMMS configurations after doing an RMA with the first kit that just would not recognize all sticks no matter how positioned. And even then, a hot boot or a cold boot would recognize all sticks, but a warm boot would only recognize 10GB rather than 12GB (5 of 6 sticks). Annoying... So thanks, GSkill, for working right the first time!

It works

ZALMAN Reserator 3 MAX Ultimate Water/Liquid CPU Cooler 120MM
ZALMAN Reserator 3 MAX Ultimate Water/Liquid CPU Cooler 120MM

Pros: Drops the temperature 5 degrees C. versus the stock Intel fan. Intel Core i7 4770K runs 30 to 31 degrees C. with no load and no fan tweaking, whereas my former i7 965 ran 35 to 36 degrees. So this is not an apples/apples test and doesn't say anything about performance under load or with overclocking. Blue LED lights go with the lighting scheme of my build.

Cons: Not actually a con, but be sure to note the dimensions and check that this will fit your case. From the pictures, it looks like it will have the same footprint as a 120mm case fan, but it's actually quite a bit larger. Also, the radiator fan shroud is flexible, so MAKE SURE nothing touches it or the shroud will distort and the fan will rub against the shroud. Deducted one egg for this overly delicate and finicky shroud.

Overall Review: Mounted this in the lower rear 120mm fan position of my Antec1200 case, per Antec recco. The radiator hose fittings encroach into the top PCIE card slot, rendering that slot unusable. Also, the top 120mm fan cannot be used. I installed a 120mm to 80mm fan adapter so that I could at least mount an 80mm fan in the top slot, but I had to remove material from the adapter so that it would not touch the radiator fan shroud of the Zalman.

Love this case!

Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support
Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support

Pros: This case is different and it fills a need. If your installation has depth issues, height issues, but not width issues, then this may be the case for you. If you've gone MEGO after looking at a zillion tower cases that seem (and are) all about the same, check this out. A lot of thought went into the design of this case. My build is old components into this new case. PSU depth limit is supposed to be 7", but I was able to install a 1000watt Corsair PSU that is 8" deep. Had to leave some PSU sockets unwired so as not to foul the Molex + two SATA sockets on the back of the 3.5" drive cage, but this was not a problem.

Cons: None. People complain about the optical drive latch, which is indeed lame. Here's how to fix it: Cut a thin cardboard shim for the right-hand side (viewed from the case front) of your optical drive, so that the drive+shim becomes a press fit into the 5.25" bay. Discard the latch and use the two screw mounts on the left-hand side. Now your optical drive is rock solid, with no annoying wiggle as you press the drive button!

Overall Review: Although this case has excellent access on the top and both sides, it will be easier if you wire up the bottom half as fully as possible BEFORE you install the mobo/tray assembly. This is a bit backward from how I usually wire. If you don't do it this way, the really saving thing is that you can back out the PSU to gain access to the sockets. I have the mesh-top version and I did install the 200mm Cooler Master fan, plus two 80mm fans in the lower rear, all with blue LEDs. Personal preference.

Okay so far

ASUS Z87-WS LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS Z87-WS LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Looks cool. Has almost enough SATA ports.

Cons: No LAN drivers upon installation means no Internet access. Must install and/or update several drivers (LAN, Intel chipset, Marvell console) before Windows will give your system a clean rating. Also, read Asus memory QVL VERY carefully. The only 32GB option for my preferred memory brand, upon further examination, was for 8 sticks x 4GB. Obviously this won't work on a Z87 Haswell board that has only 4 DIMMS, so went with GSkill memory, which is performing fine. The two eSATA ports are NOT port-multiplier capable, which means they are nearly worthless; fortunately, I had a PCIE card from my prior build that took care of this.

Overall Review: Missing LAN drivers necessitates using a second computer to go online to Asus website, download drivers, expand files, burn to disk, put disk into Z87-WS system, install LAN drivers. Then Internet is enabled and you can go online to get the rest of the missing/obsolete drivers. Could the missing LAN drivers have been on the Asus installation disk? Maybe, but if I have to install drivers, I want the latest from the website, not something that made the burn-to-CD list two years ago. This is my second build. Fortunately, on the my first, using an Asus X58 mobo, all drivers were functional upon installation, if not the very latest versions. Given all the cons I have listed, I'm being generous deducting only one egg; however the system is now as it should be and is performing fine, so none of these mobo cons is permanent except the eSATA thing.
