Very nice motherboard, some issues

ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: This is a very nice motherboard, lots of overclocking features and such. Supports some of the newest processors and dual sli, making it a good choice for a gaming board.

Cons: Not a big problem, but legacy usb sucks. Having legacy usb enabled will generate errors in memtest. Also, if you have a Razer Copperhead usb gaming mouse, there are some compatibility issues with this motherboard. The mouse will work perfectly when it will work, but when you start the computer, you'll have to unplug the mouse and plug it back in a bunch of times before it's detected. I spent quite a bit of time searching for a fix for this, but apparently there isn't one offered by Asus. This is a known problem with this particular motherboard and the Razer Copperhead mouse. Other mouses seem to be fine, but this was like an 80 dollar mouse and it's very nice, so I'm reluctant to switch to another one. Also there seems to be some distortion in the sound, but I can really only hear it with my studio headphones, on regular speakers it's not noticeable unless you turn the volume up pretty high.

Overall Review: You might want to consider another motherboard if you have a Razer Copperhead mouse you plan on using. Also, if you're really into audio and want great sound quality, a sound card would be a good investment as the onboard sound card in this motherboard isn't all that great.

Dead after 1 hour

ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME176CX-A1-BK Intel Atom Z3745 1GB DDR3L Memory 16GB Flash 7.0" Touchscreen Tablet Android 4.4 (KitKat)

Pros: It looked nice when it was working. Newegg is great about replacements.

Cons: Died after about an hour of use. I let it fully charge before turning it on, then powered the device on, logged in and began installed firmware updates. The first firmware update(over 100 MBs) installed fine. Then I installed the second firmware update(about 5 MBs). The device restarted as part of the firmware update, but never started back up. At the time the battery was at 100% and I still had it plugged into the AC adapter, so it wasn't a power issue. I tried everything I could think of as well as some suggestions from searching online. The backlight would turn on, but the device just displayed a black screen. Eventually after a day or so, the backlight wouldn't even light and nothing would display or light up if the power adapter was plugged in. It appears now that the device is totally without power and dead.

Overall Review: On the plus side, Newegg was great to work with and even pays return shipping on defective products like this. I should also mention that I spoke with ASUS, who was also willing to RMA the device for me, but I would have had to pay return shipping to ASUS, so I went with a replacement from Newegg instead. At the moment, I can only give the product a 1 egg review as I was never really able to use it. I'll update this review as things progress.

Very unreliable

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT12864AA1065
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT12864AA1065

Pros: Runs alright, speed seems to be decent.

Cons: I ordered four sticks of this ram about 10 months ago and since then three of the four sticks have failed and generated memtest errors. Two of the sticks cause my computer to not even make it to the BIOS screen of my motherboard. I RMA'd the bad ram to Crucial and got new ram for free due to their warranty, except the cost of shipping it to them. My computer is working fine now with the new ram that they sent me, however after reading the reviews here and my 75% failure rate so far with this ram, I don't know what to expect in the future.

Overall Review: I felt compelled to add my review to the list here after reading everyone else's reviews. I checked reviews again because having three out of four sticks fail just seemed very odd. However, according to the reviews here, I'm definitely not alone and my ram isn't an isolated case. I had always bought Corsair ram prior to this purchase and bought this ram because of the rebate that came with it at the time. After this experience, I doubt I'll ever buy Crucial again, even if there is a rebate, it's not worth the trouble. I'll stick with Corsair, I've never had a problem with their ram.

It's ok

Fan Controller Panel
Fan Controller Panel

Pros: I've had this fan controller over a year now and it has done its job for the most part. The connectors don't match up with my fans, but I was able to cut and solder all the wires together to make it work. It does a good job controlling fan speed.

Cons: Over the course of a year, I've had to take my computer apart twice due to this fan controller. Two of the round controls failed on me. I was able to fix that by splicing the fans that were previously connected to the two failed controls to the two working controls. So I'm controlling six fans with only four controls right now. Each of the two working round knobs are now controlling two fans each. The switches seem to be working great still. Not sure why the round controls are so unreliable, but I wish they would have been made a bit more sturdy. I use my computer a lot and do adjust these controls from time to time. When one of the controls fails, a fan will stop spinning completely and if I'm playing a game or doing something demanding, my computer with overheat.

Very solid, well built case

LIAN LI PC-60APLUSII W Silver Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
LIAN LI PC-60APLUSII W Silver Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: This is a very nice case. It's very sturdy and everything fits together perfectly. The sliding motherboard tray is also a nice feature of this case. Good airflow with all the fans, keeps my computer nice and cool.

Cons: It may just be me, but I found this case to be extremely loud. Although I do have two 7900gt video cards and a large heat sink and fan, plus a 650 watt power supply. Any of those things could also be causing a good amount of the noise. But I'm considering replacing the case fans with low noise fans, as they seem to be the primary cause of it.
