not bad but not great

OCZ 2.5" 64GB SATA II SLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-1S64G
OCZ 2.5" 64GB SATA II SLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-1S64G

Pros: cheap price for its size and ok random access time. vista gives it a 5.9 for performance and the boot times are pretty quick - lower 20 seconds to useable desktop including bios post.

Cons: medioce random write performance - not sure what situations you get 100 read / 80 write but its not very often if at all (at least not on a PM965 intel motherboard)

Overall Review: its a rebranded samsung - the random write IOPS are in the 150's depending on block size which is about as good as a regular hard drive. the above testing was done on an asus F8Sn C-1 laptop. my comparison is a memoright 32GB pata drive which crushes this from a performance standpoint (.05 ms access and 800 random writes/s).

good laptop - bad OS

ASUS Laptop F8 Series Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 (2.50GHz) 3GB Memory 320GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS 14.1" Windows Vista Home Premium F8Sn-C1

Pros: everthing - excellent build quality, aesthetics, keyboard has a nice feel and sound. screen is great - i dont mind the glossy finish and text looks great. overall a great buy. thanks to asus and newegg!

Cons: battery is small and will last 2.5 hours tops. only a minor point for an otherwise great product.

Overall Review: Vista is pig but should soar once i get a solid state drive :)
